An Appetizing Look at Some Disney Wish Main Dining Restaurant Dishes from D23

This week, D23 shared a progressive dinner of sorts with a look at some of the offerings in the main dining restaurants aboard the Disney Wish. The Disney Wish will feature three unique rotational restaurants Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, Worlds of Marvel, and 1923.

1923

Located just off the Grand Hall of the Disney Wish, 1923 features two distinct rooms, one named for Walt Disney and the other for Roy O. Disney. Fitting transition to honor Walt and Roy, as the new class of ship dropped this naming convention on the concierge suites. The restaurant is named based on the year Walt Disney moved to Southern California to be with his brother Roy, and the two founded what is now The Walt Disney Company.

“We want you to feel how classy this space is, and we want you to feel classy dining there, like you might turn your head and there is Walt Disney sitting right next to you”

Sachi Handke, show coordinator, Walt Disney Imagineering

In 1923, guests will able to see nearly 800 pieces of artwork, 50 character maquettes, and 24 multiplane camera cel set-ups celebrating Disney animated classics. Ranging from 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to 2019’s Frozen 2, the drawings, props, and more show the evolution of Disney animation.

The 1923 menu will pay tribute to the The Walt Disney Company’s California heritage with a fusion of Asian, European, and South American flavors. For years, Disney Cruise Line has served a Taste of California Menu – later renamed to Vista on select longer voyages.

Two of the appetizer offerings revealed for 1923 include a savory porcini-spiced ahi tuna appetizer and fennel, Bartlett pear, and Tatsoi salad accented with Manchego cheese, walnuts, and a sherry dressing.

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

Building on the musical dinner experiences at Tiana’s Place on teh Disney Wonder, and Rapunzel’s Royal Table on the Disney Magic, Imagineers are taking it to the next level with the launch of the Disney Wish at Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, the first purpose-built space on a Disney Cruise ship designed for a theatrical dining experience. That last part is important, as the spaces on the Magic and Wonder were converted venues based on pre-defined space limitations.

Arendelle is adorned with family heirlooms and paintings, an Arendelle soldier’s suit of armor, the grandfather clock featured in the original film, busts of Anna and Elsa, and the lantern featured in Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Plus, the stunning windows that look outside will undergo a magical transformation during the meal that will be snow good.

The Frozen Dining Adventure is a continuation of the Frozen story following the events of Frozen 2, spoiler alert… Guests are invited to attend Queen Anna and Kristoff’s royal engagement party in this all new tale.

The plan is for Anna and Elsa to visit guests around the restaurant as musicians play Nordic renditions of Frozen songs as Oaken and his Hearty Party Planning Service cater the event. Yoo-hoo, Oaken will be there too!

The Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure menu entrees will include a new presentation of Chilean sea bass that comes with a cornucopia of fresh vegetables, a familiar rotational menu item along with juniper-spiced roasted free-range chicken that comes with a duck fat-fried potato and estragon wild mushrooms.

As we wait for the full menu, here is a look at the Frozen Freezing the Night Away dinner menu served on select voyages aboard the Disney Wonder.

Worlds of Marvel

We have heard the most about the Disney Wish’s Worlds of Marvel restaurant since the original reveal earlier this year, including the recently announced MCU actors filming parts to be used during the dinner experience. The Avengers: Quantum Encounter will immerse guests in a story with Ant-Man and The Wasp as they embark on their first public speaking engagement on behalf of the Avengers to discuss some of their innovative technologies, including Iron Man’s arc reactor. Naturally, things don’t go exactly as planned.

While assisting Ant-Man and The Wasp with some small-scale trials, guests will be able to engage with a Quantum Core at their table, and when enough of the cores are activated at the same time, the entire venue will become super-charged as energy pulses through the power channels in the walls and ceiling.

But trouble arises when Ultron shows up with an army of sentients who are determined to get their hands on the incredible quantum technology. That’s when Ant-Man, The Wasp, and guests—with a little help from Captain America and Captain Marvel—join forces to save the day.

The Worlds of Marvel dinner menu will include Marvel inspired deserts, sticky fig pudding inspired by Peggy Carter with salted caramel coconut and vanilla ice cream, and perhaps a flourless chocolate beetroot cake.

The overall Worlds of Marvel menu offers world-class cuisine with dishes inspired by the real and fictional settings of the MCU, including African Wakanda, Eastern European Sokovia, and, of course, New York City. To me this sounds a lot like the Marvel Day at Sea menu served during select sailings on the Disney Magic.

All theses items were previewed during the Taste of the Disney Wish media event at Walt Disney World on September 30, 2021. Below is an overview of the menu.

Hope they are not redoing the current menus to be more inline with these examples. That chicken serving is ridiculously small!

Those were tasting samples. I read an article on another site (allears.net) that has the full dish portions as well.

We would certainly try any of these samples…. but that goes for any meal served on any DCL ship for that matter. From Remy to Tiana’s’ place to the Cabana’s buffet. Just get us on board and we will take it from there!
