Personal Navigators, and other handouts from the Halloween on the High Seas 6-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral. The Disney Dream set sail from Port Canaveral on October 3, 2016. During this cruise, the ship was under the control of Captain Thord Haugen.
This is the sailing that was altered to a 4-Night Western Caribbean then extended to a 6-Night Western due to Hurricane Matthew. DCL provided two updates to passengers. The first informed them about the 1-day extension and the second provided details on the possible scenarios for returning to Port Canaveral. Regarding nights 5 and 6, the dining rooms just repeated their standard rotational menu.
Also, night 5 was optional dress up.
Dang. I think this is the longest cruise the Disney Dream has ever done with Paying Passengers! Even if this was a last minute change and they had to extend it for the Hurricane.
That is correct, this is the longest guest sailing for the Disney Dream. You can see all current and past itineraries for the Dream on the following page. https://disneycruiselineblog.com/cruise-planning/itineraries/?ship=3
Similar pages are available for the other ships.
…and the only time the Dream ever has visited Cozumel and Costa Maya. It was very great to be on the ship… but also a bit scary to not know when we would get back to Florida and also to know the devastation that Matthew had already left behind.
In the end, the ship did make it to Port Canaveral on Saturday afternoon and while many guest disembarked, many others were able to stay on board the “Hotel Dream.” The cruise line also provided complimentary transport to the airport the next morning. First rate response by the cast and crew!
