Casting Call Reveals Details on the Disney Wonder’s French Quarter Lounge Entertainment

Earlier this year, Disney Cruise Line revealed changes planned for the Disney Wonder during her September dry dock in Vancouver. The most exciting enhancement announced was the remodeling of the Promenade Lounge into the French Quarter Lounge. A recent casting call, provided insight on the evening entertainment offerings.

The casting call seeks online submissions for New Orleans Style Jazz Duo with blues flair to perform on the Disney Wonder in our newly announced lounge, French Quarter celebrating the back story of Princess Tiana.

Specifically, they are looking of are duo comprised of a female vocalist (musicianship a bonus) with strong vocals and acting ability and one male strong musician/vocalist who can engage in the storytelling of New Orleans, the French Quarter and Disney’s Princess and the Frog.

Instrumentation should be piano and preferably include one horn such as a sax or trumpet.  Other instruments a plus.  Performers MUST be able to engage and create the atmosphere of New Orleans in style, musical knowledge, content and demeanor.

When not performing in the French Quarter, musicians may be scheduled in other venues such as the atrium and piano venue which would include more Top 40 and Pop Music.  Strong familiarization with Disney songs is a must especially Disney songs in a Jazz style.  Typical performance schedule is approximately four 45-minute sets per night for 6 days a week.

Potential duos are asked to submit videos which include a performance of the song “Almost There”, and “Down in New Orleans” from the movie, Disney’s Princess and a Frog.  Along with two other jazz/blues songs that show best ability and excellent show quality.

According to Disney, guests will get a touch of bayou hospitality as they enjoy live music on the gazebo stage and sip specialty drinks at the French Quarter Lounge. This natural precursor to dinner at Tiana’s Place Restaurant is the perfect destination for entertainment and libations before or after dinner, while the space will come alive throughout the day with New Orleans-themed family activities, trivia and character encounters.

The jazzy atmosphere of the French Quarter Lounge, also inspired by the Disney animated feature “The Princess and the Frog,” will evoke an airy outdoor space in New Orleans, surrounded by touches of iconic architecture such as wrought-iron balconies, classic brick walls and shutter-framed windows. Decorative details including a life-size trolley car and nods to the film in the form of signs and facades on the walls add to the ambiance of the space.
