Disney Cruise Line can undo the changes they made in early 2013 to their marketing because they are once again (unless I missed another line’s announcement) the only cruise line with fireworks at sea. This according to a report by CruiseCritic.com, Norwegian Cruise Line is no longer offering fireworks at sea on the Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway.
Apparently, Norwegian Cruise Line felt they were not offering guests the best overall experience because the show was technically challenging to execute onboard and required extra hands on deck which took crew away from other onboard duties.
In January 2013, Norwegian Cruise Line announced it would light up the sky with a captivating fireworks show on every cruise on the their newest ship, Norwegian Breakaway.
Hi Scott, Do you know if the reason we had no fireworks on our recent 12 night northern europe trip was due to some European restriction as it was a shame compared with the fireworks we had on previous trips when in the USA. I assume it was also perhaps due to the lateness of the evenings getting dark but no mention was made as to why we didnt see any.
Not sure about your specific sailing. Did you have a pirate night and just no fireworks? On our 11-night, the Freezing the Night Away deck party took the place of Pirate Night.
There was no pirate night on our 12-night Northern European cruise. We had Freezing the Night Away. I presumed there were no fireworks because of restrictions from the relevant local authorities.
Yes, we had the Freezing the Night Away instead of the pirate night.
Just as well. Been on Breakaway twice and the fireworks show was pathetic. No music, no theme, short with no discernible finale. Some people booed at end.
Frank, seems like NCL gradually cut back on what was originally planned. https://youtu.be/5U5DL0bqAwk
