Tropical Storm Patty Forms in the Bahamas For Now [Update]

Earlier today Tropical Depression 16 formed in the Bahamas. This system was not expected to intensify, but this evening it has become Tropical Storm Patty. TS Patty is stationary some 250 miles east-northeast of the Central Bahamas at the 5 o’clock hour with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. While the system has intensified, she still looks to be short lived as the system will begin to weaken overnight and during the day Friday. It is very unlikely that the system will reach the Bahamas with tropical storm force winds.
