Traditional Character Greetings Returning to Disney Cruise Line By August 29th

Disney Cruise Line is in the process of returning to traditional character meet & greets across the fleet by August 29, 2022. This includes up-close encounters and autographs.

Traditional up-close character greetings, and autographs have begun across the fleet following recent guidance from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and proven success at their land based theme parks.

Until they stop testing and virus shot requirement they will not see our money. DCL is almost last man standing and know that is now affecting bookings. All three of the Majors have moved past the big lie.

Yay! Our four year old, two year old and one year old are all now fully vaccinated and can hardly wait. This news is the stuff we’ve been dreaming of!

I have a feeling that they will announce same changes soon. DCL can’t hold out much longer. If any port still requires the vax, then those that are unvaxxed will have to stay on board while in port. I’d sign up for that. Most of these ports aren’t worth getting off the ship for anyway.

I saw on other boards that this guy has been predicting this for a year now. DCL has always been cleaner than other cruise lines and I’m sure that’s what they are trying to maintain in light of almost every cruise on another cruise line comes back with a bunch of people locked up in inside cabins because of the Covid. Also, there seems to be something vaguely racist when someone talks about certain ports that aren’t worth getting off the ship for. Like when some people talk about S-hole countries.

I agree with you that DCL has the cleanest ships but that has absolutely nothing to do with covid. Also, those tests have been proven not accurate.
And as far as the last two lines in your comment, facts don’t care about your feelings.

We cancelled our October cruise – we simply can’t afford the precruise testing for everyone. Instead, we’re booked on Princess. I’m sorry to miss out on the Sanderson Sisters but we’re just not made of money! Disney cruises are already half again more than most cruises. I wish Disney would understand this that not everyone is made of money!

Thanks, Scott! So thrilled with the news. We were already glad that they were allowing Fish Extenders, but I had just gotten word from Disney Moms that this last onboard restriction wasn’t going to be lifted. Character hugs and autographs were legitimately the last concern I had and this relief is coming just in time for next month’s TransAtlantic cruise on the Magic. We’ll probably even get some pin trading in.
