Disney Wish: Imagineer Shares Look at a Cargo Bay Porg and Possible Hyperspace Lounge Signature Cocktail Delivery Vessel

Last week Imagineer Scott Trowbridge shared a brief behind the scenes look at two aspects of of the Star Wars themed venues debuting this summer aboard the Disney Wish.

First up, Star Wars: Cargo Bay which part of the dedicated youth spaces onboard the Disney Wish. According to Trowbridge, this area is all about the cute critters and creatures that live inside the Star Wars galaxy. Recently, he snapped the following image of one of the better known creatures, a porg.

The next venue Trowbridge discussed was Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, a high-end bar styled as a luxurious yacht-class spaceship offering a space-jumping tour of the Star Wars galaxy. The space will bring an immersive experience a with a galactic view, interactive tasting experiences and signature beverages inspired by the films.

Imagineers wanted to add some WOW factor to the space with a unique way to deliver a signature cocktail to a guest. The following is an unfinished prototype and should be considered simply as a work in progress.

One of the disadvantages of working so far out when designing venues on a ship so closely tied to specific IP is the potential to miss out on what will ultimately withstand the test of time and what will find universal appeal with fans. Are porg’s cute? Sure, but if you’re a kid or a parent, porg’s will be far less appealing than Grogu, a ridiculously cute character who will likely prove to be as timeless as a number of other iconic Star Wars characters.
