Canada’s Health Minister States COVID-related Restrictions to Enter Canada Could Last For Years

Heads up, it appears based on recent statements from British Columbia Health Minister Adrian Dix, if you’re planning on traveling to British Columbia, you’ll need to be vaccinated. This would primarily come into play for those considering an Alaskan or Hawaiian cruise from Vancouver.

“They’re going to have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for the foreseeable future. I don’t mean weeks or months, I mean years,” British Columbia Health Minister Adrian Dix said during an interview with KING 5.

On August 14, 2021, the Government of Canada announced it will require employees in the federally regulated air, rail, and marine transportation sectors to be vaccinated. The vaccination requirement will also extend to certain travellers. This includes all commercial air travellers, passengers on interprovincial trains, and passengers on large marine vessels with overnight accommodations, such as cruise ships.

@L – being a jerk is for you though. Have some sympathy for folks who for very legitimate reasons can’t get a vaccine. What about folks who have severe allergies to vaccination ingredients and might be denied visiting relatives? Seriously, compassion might be in order. I’m vaccinated so please don’t start with the ‘anti-vax’ nonsense.

So where does this leave Disney and all the kids unable to get the vaccine? Will DCL be looking to sail out of Washington state instead? Any movement on the repeal of the Jones Act introduced in May?

I’m fine with needing a vaccine. I hope they drop the testing requirements soon or at least let it be a rapid test

At this time, Canada has different rules for children under 12 travelling with their families, as a vaccine is not yet available

you people are hilarious. where did i state anything about people not being able to visit family? this is a cruise blog and this article is about cruise vacations. stay on topic and stop comparing apples and oranges with your fake outrage. i don’t have any “sympathy” for someone who can’t take a cruise vacation who can’t visit canada because they are making a choice to not get vaccinated, nor should i- their country, their rules they are entitled to enforce. and the list of people who have legitimate medical reasons that come from a legitimate MD are extremely small. most people use it as an excuse.

@L – then maybe your first comment should actually state some of those things. Yes, a country can make their own rules. But I’m vaccinated and their rules are still ridiculous. Vaccination is not stopping transmission. If anything they should be concentrating on negative testing. Regardless of whether the numbers are small or not, folks who can’t get the vaccine should not be excluded from life. Same with children under 12. Do we exclude them too? We’re going to have covid around for the rest of our lives. Take your fake outrage elsewhere.

@J – If you watched the video it sounds like most of the folks who live there support this. If that is their way so be it. We’re not doing so hot in this country so let’s not tell people how they should run theirs when we are worse off.

@K – Not telling them how to do it, just giving my opinion. They certainly have their right to do what they feel they need to do. No issues with that at all. But it doesn’t make sense to focus only on vaccinations when those that are vaccinated can still spread covid. Just letting anyone in with a vaccination card does nothing without testing. Which is why I mentioned you might as well just test everyone and let anyone in, regardless of vaccination status, as long as they test negative. Just my opinion. I get tired as a vaccinated individual to hear so many others who are vaccinated that seem to live by the creed “I got my vaccination, I don’t care about anyone else now”. J and quite a few others on this board seem to be quite the jerks about the whole thing.
