Disney Cruise Line Cancels Select Cruises Through July 2021 – Hope Remains for Alaskan Sailings

Today, Disney Cruise Line announced the further extension of their cruise suspension, cancelling all Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy sailings through July 2021. Disney Wonder sailings have been cancelled through July 12, 2021 which seems to offer some hope the recent Senate passing of Alaska Tourism Restoration Act may offer Disney a potential Alaskan sailings via Seattle if the bill can quickly move through the House and the CDC give the Disney Wonder the green light to resume operations – it is premature to speculate, but to only cancel Alaskan cruises until mid-July makes one look for a logical reason and at this point it is all I can come up with. The Disney Magic sailings UK Staycations are NOT part of today’s cancellations as these are specific to the Bahamian, Caribbean, and Alaskan sailings. Disney Cruise Line removed these July sailings from further booking on May 14th ahead of today’s official cancellation.

Dear EMILY,
All of us at Disney Cruise Line hope you and your family are staying well.

We continue to work closely with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to carefully review and implement their recently released guidance and refine our protocols for a responsible and gradual return to service in U.S. waters. Given the ongoing nature of these discussions and the time needed to staff and prepare our ships, we are canceling Disney Fantasy sailings through July 2021.

We are offering affected Guests who have paid their reservation in full the choice of a 125% future cruise credit* to be used for a future sailing on or before September 30, 2022, or a full refund. The credit has automatically been added to your account. Once you have decided on an alternate sail date, you may contact your travel agent. Your agent may place a reservation on hold for you by applying this credit as a payment option when booking a new reservation online. Guests that have not paid their reservations in full will automatically receive a refund of what they have paid so far.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these times. We look forward to welcoming you aboard as soon as we can and making magic for you and your loved ones.

Sincerely,

The Cast and Crew
Disney Cruise Line

*The Future Cruise Credit (FCC) is equal to 125% of your original voyage fare plus the cost of the Vacation Protection Plan, if applicable. The FCC is only valid for sailings departing on or before September 30, 2022. Select Disney Wish block-out dates apply. Your original reservation must be paid in full to be eligible for the FCC. The FCC is applied per person and is non-transferable, non-refundable and has no cash value. Standard prevailing rates apply and Guests are responsible for any balance due after the FCC has been applied. If you end up not being able to use the FCC, you will be eligible for a refund up to the amount of your original voyage fare plus the cost of the Vacation Protection Plan, if applicable. Standard cancellation policies and terms and conditions apply to future sailings. Guests who previously received a FCC are not eligible for an additional FCC.

Today, with this phase of cancellations of 18 cruises spanning 80 nights. To date, Disney has been forced to cancel 398 sailings spanning a total 2083 nights across the fleet. The Disney Dream will lose 133 sailings losing 477-nights, Disney Fantasy 86 sailings losing 520-nights, Disney Magic, excluding the addition of the UK Staycations, 94 sailings losing 565-nights, and the Disney Wonder 85 sailings losing 521-nights due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

DCL COVID 19 By Number Canceled Sailings 20210514

Please note, the Disney Magic and Disney Dream stats have been adjusted to show just lost revenue of passenger sailings. The actual number of nights is higher due to previously scheduled dry dock periods and a repositioning cruise where there were no passenger sailings.

I set up sailings for each ship for those interested in keeping track of the fleet during the “temporary” shutdown. The sailings will be updated daily with “at sea” set as the default for each day until we learn otherwise.

Do you all think they will move back the must sail by Sept 2022? We booked March 2020, Aug 2020 and now Oct 2021. I am nervous as more get cancelled there will be a lot of people trying to book before the expiration date.
