In this installment of The Vault, we are cruising back to the Premier Cruise Line days, September 11, 1989 to be exact, with a look at the daily schedules, think Personal Navigators, from the Star/Ship Atlantic. During this cruise, the ship was under the control of Captain G Antonellos. The Cruise Director during the sailing was Mick Moore. The neatest part of all this are the events on the final morning along with the open gift shop for last minute souvenirs.
The 4-night cruise sailed from Port Canaveral with an overnight stop in Nassau and a day at the Bahamian Out Island of Salt Cay followed by a day at sea. Salt Cay is described in the handout as an uninhabited Bahamas Out Island with 5 unspoiled beaches. There are palm trees, a peaceful Bluewater lagoon, plus a Bahama Barbecue and Goombay music on the beach. Once a pirate’s stronghold, the island has been the location for several movies. In fact, the television show, Gilligan’s Island was filmed on the island for years as well as the film, Splash which also shot scenes on Gorda Cay know today as Castaway Cay. However, unlike Castaway Cay, Salt Cay required guests to tender, but it was a festive trip complete wit the Starcruise Reggae band.

I hope you enjoy this sail down memory straits. If you have any interesting documents, marketing materials, or other promotional items that you’d like to share in future installments of The Vault, drop me an email.
I don’t think any cruise line had or has as great a product for your money as Premier Cruise Line did.
My senior trip (in 1986, yes I’m old) was on the Premier ship Royale. It was a 3 night to Nassau and Salt Cay. It was $99 per person for the trip (which I think included the bus ride between ATL area and Port Canaveral). I shared a cabin with 2 or 3 other girls ~ it was set up with 2 sets of “bunk beds.” I wish I had saved all the paperwork!
Wow, all that for $100!
I worked in the gift shop on the Atlantic on the same date. Fond memories
