According to a report out of The Bahamas from The Tribune, Pearl Island recently signed a deal with Disney Cruise Line to potentially offer cruisers the option to spend the day at a private beach. Pearl Island offers two white-sand beaches, a traditional Bahamian lunch, snorkeling, water play area, kayaks, beach chairs, and private cabanas.
Pearl Island is located just eight miles from Nassau and one mile east of Paradise Island, and is known for its warm, crystal-clear waters, stunning natural beauty, white-sand beaches, and its iconic Lighthouse.
At this time, Disney Cruise Line does not list any port adventures to Pearl Island. However, based not he news report it seems like this may be an option when cruising resumes as this would be a situation where passengers could ferry from the pier directly over to Pearl Island with very little interaction ashore. Pearl Island contracts with a number of cruise lines including their biggest partner, Royal Caribbean.
For now, you can book directly with Pearl Island with the beach escape with lunch starting at $84, the beach escape, lunch, and snorkeling is $99, and the private cabana is $160. Prices mentioned are per guest for the 5 hour experiences. Royal Caribbean offers the beach and lunch excursion for $79, the beach, lunch, and snorkel option for $99, and the cabana for two at $240.
Royal describes the beach and lunch option as and escape from the bustle of the Nassau waterfront for time on the private iconic Pearl Island. Begin with a half-hour commentated harbor cruise, viewing colorful architecture and learning a bit of the area’s history along the way. Relax in one of the sun or shade decks, play on a powder white-sand beach or go for a swim in the crystal-clear Bahamian water. Kayaks, standup paddle boards, beach & board games are also available. When ready climb the iconic lighthouse for a breathtaking view of the surrounding islands. Don your mask, snorkel, vest and fins (all provided) and head to a nearby protected reef within the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas — less than 50 feet away from the island. Spend half an hour on a guided underwater adventure, discovering vibrant marine life just below the surface. Your time on Pearl Island also includes a delicious Bahamian served lunch with your choice of water or lemonade.
This looks like a very interesting place to visit and something we’ll put on our short list for a future trip to Nassau, whenever cruising resumes. Have you visited Pearl Island, what did you think about the experience?
