In this installment of The Vault, we are going to take a trip back to 1987 with a look at the early days of land and sea vacations via Disney’s partnership with Premier Cruise Lines. At the time, the marketing campaign highlighted Premier Cruise Lines as The Official Cruise Line of Walt Disney World.
The 1987 magazine advertised a 7-night land and sea vacation starting at $446 per person based on double occupancy for Magic Kingdom Club members. The package deal was branded Premier’s Cruise and Walt Disney World Week and featured 4 days at Walt Disney World with on-site accommodations, before or after a 3-night Bahamian cruise. A rental car was included as well as 3-day unlimited World Passport (theme park tickets) to visit all the attractions at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Center. As a bonus, the package included a tour at Kennedy Space Center.
The cruise departed Port Canaveral, the new cruiseport that’s just minutes from the Vacation Kingdom aboard the Star/Ship Royale or Star/Ship Oceanic. Port Canaveral, just minutes from the Walt Disney World… I guess, technically, any drive time can be stated in just minutes. The ships stopped in Nassau and visited Salt Cay.
Special thanks again to LG for taking the time to scan his copy of his 1987 Premier Cruise Lines magazine advertisement. We are still gathering fun items like this share in future installments of The Vault, if you have anything unique to share drop me an email.
Love these old post – I was just a kid back then…well in high school. I am so glad they launched their on cruise line.
