For at least the second time since the Disney Magic’s December 2, 2019 cruise went on sale, the itinerary has been altered. This time, the scheduled stop in Key West has been moved up to the second day of the cruise. The new itinerary is as follows:
- Monday December 2, 2019 | Miami – 4:00 pm
- Tuesday December 3, 2019 | Key West – 8:30 am to 4:45 pm
- Wednesday December 4, 2019 | Castaway Cay – 8:30 am to 5:15 pm
- Thursday December 5, 2019 | At Sea
- Friday December 6, 2019 | Nassau – 8:30 am to 5:15 pm
Saturday December 7, 2019 | Miami (Debarkation)
The following email correspondence was sent out to guests booked on this cruise late last week.
The itinerary was originally scheduled to visit Nassau on December 3rd. Then, in late-September 2018, the sailing was altered to change December 3rd to a Day at Sea.
Any ideas why-?
Moving Key West to the second day, eliminates the customs process that would normally occur if you went to the Bahamas first. However, I am not sure if this was the reason for the change or not.
Yes, I would love to know why too, we are booked on this cruise, and I liked the idea of 2 sea days. I would rather be at sea instead of Nassau. Not a huge deal, I’m just curious as of why.
The port order is the only thing that has changed with this sailing, it only every had 1 day at sea.
According to the letter they added Nassau as a port?
This is a great change. Not having to get out of bed at 7:30 AM and go through customs in the Walt Disney Theater makes this so much better!
It was two sea days when we booked it in June. I was sad when they added Nassau back onto it.
I disagree with the comment that this cruise only ever had 1 sea day. We booked this in June and I am looking at my email confirmation. The itinerary up to getting the above email was Miami, Sea day, Castaway Cay, Sea day, Key West, Miami.
The cruise was originally announced with 1 day at sea. Here is a clipping of the release. Ultimately, it seems like this cruise has been reworked a few times since it originally went on sale.
A post here (https://disneycruiselineblog.com/2018/09/dcl-alters-the-disney-magics-december-2-2019-5-night-bahamian-cruise-itinerary/) mentions that reference to stopping at Nassau was an inadvertent mistake on DCL’s part and that the sailing was originally intended to have two sea days (prior to the subsequent itinerary revisions).
