Disney Cruise Line is quietly refreshing Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular, one of the three stage productions aboard the Disney Fantasy. Aladdin was last performed during the March 9th cruise. During our March 16th sailing, Disney filled the void with additional guest acts including a Disney On Broadway Stars Set Sail performance by Josh Strickland.
A number of readers reached out to us sharing the responses they received from Disney Cruise Line. Disney is telling guests is currently being refreshed and in some emails refurbished. While the show is dark Disney Cruise Line plans to offer specialty entertainment acts that are normally reserved for longer sailings.
Disney put out a casting call July 2018 in search of vocalist and dancers. The casting calls for Aladdin all had similar references to a unique opportunity to be part of a renewed offering of Aladdin, A Musical Spectacular!
Disney has been on record with a number of people via email correspondence that Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular is scheduled to return the evening entertainment lineup during the Disney Fantasy’s May 18, 2019 Eastern Caribbean cruise. In total, the production will be dark for just under 10 weeks.
The timing of Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular’s return doesn’t seem to be random. On May 22, 2019, Aladdin, the live action remake of the Disney Classic PremEARS in theaters and on the ships.

Bummer! I have been telling my son how cool that show is and now we don’t get to see it 🙁
This is so very disappointing. I am taking a 7 day cruise out of Port Canaveral March 30th-April 7th. This will be my (4th) Disney Cruise but first time on the Fantasy and Aladdin was the show I wanted to see the most. I can understand them going “dark” when the movie comes out but this seems like poor planning to do it when so many families will be taking their spring break trips.
Alright! Any word on this? Is the revamped version happening at last??
