U.S. News & World Report released their 2019 Best Cruise Lines Rankings. The global authority in rankings and consumer advice evaluated 169 ships from 17 top cruise lines across six categories. The rankings help travelers select the best cruise by brand, region, traveler type and budget.

With its combination of high traveler and health scores, as well as top-notch service and onboard amenities, Seabourn Cruise Line takes the top spot as the Best Cruise Line in the Mediterranean as well as the Best Luxury Cruise Line. Celebrity Cruises earned top marks for Best Cruise Line for the Money, while Viking Ocean Cruises takes the top spot as the Best Cruise Line for Couples. Disney Cruise Line continues its reign as the Best Cruise Line for Families and the Best Cruise Line in the Caribbean for the sixth consecutive year.

Disney Cruise Line fared rather well in the overall ship ranking. Out of the 167 ships, the Disney Fantasy earned a number 4 spot, the Disney Magic was listed at 6, followed by the Disney Dream and Disney Wonder in a tie for 15th.

As technologies advance and cruisers expect more out of their vacation experience, cruise lines are introducing new tech-savvy features and amenities. On some ships, wearable devices or cellphone apps such as the Navigator App are replacing key cards, allowing passengers to unlock their rooms, pay for food and drinks, book onboard activities and keep track of their friends and families with a pendant or bracelet, or their own phones. Additionally, as health and wellness continue to be a priority for today’s travelers, cruise lines have initiated more relevant offerings to stay on trend. These include onboard juice bars, spinning and on-deck yoga classes, acupuncture, spa-specific staterooms and more.
