On September 21, 2016, the Disney Magic made her inaugural call to Ponta Delgada during the first leg of the 2016 11-Night Westbound Transatlantic cruise which embarked from Barcelona on Saturday. Ponta Delgada is located on the Portuguese island of São Miguel in the region of Azores.
The inaugural visit was commemorated by local officials and community leaders who joined Captain Andy McRonald and shipboard officials aboard the 2,700 passenger vessel for a traditional maritime plaque exchange ceremony. My good friend Eric is currently onboard and shared the following videos and pictures.

Commonly known as one of Europe’s best kept secrets, Ponta Delgada is a destination rich in culture and natural splendor with new discoveries and adventures around every corner. While in port, guests can take in the stunning landscape from the Barrosa Mountain, discover the hidden wonders of the Terra Nostra Garden, or even visit a local pineapple plantation to learn more about the delicious Azore pineapples.
The Disney Magic is scheduled to return Ponta Delgada twice in 2017. On May 20th, during an 15-Night Eastbound Transatlantic cruise from Port Canaveral to Copenhagen and then again on September 21st, during the 11-Night Westbound Transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to New York.
