Effective December 13, 2013, Disney Cruise Line’s onboard rebooking policy was modified to include block out dates. The new block out dates are not necessarily exclusive to holidays. The policy now states, for these sailings only, you will not receive the 10% discount, but will still receive onboard credit. Rest assured, if you have a cruise booked during one of the holiday dates and you keep this sailing, you will be unaffected by this latest change. If you decide to move your existing onboard booking to a blocked out date, you keep the onboard credit, but will lose the discount.
The new onboard booking policy as of January 2014 is as follows:
Offer valid for Categories 4-11 only. Offer not valid for concierge level categories, IGT, OGT, and VGT categories with Restrictions and 2-night cruises. All staterooms must be booked and deposit paid while onboard. Cancellation and deposit policies vary by itinerary, sailings 6-nights or less are not eligible for a reduced deposit; 7-night sailings and longer are eligible for a reduced deposit. Other discounts do not apply. This offer is limited to two staterooms on one future cruise date (per household sailing). Additional staterooms may be booked at the current prevailing rates. This offer is non-transferable; name changes may be made so long as one adult on the original reservation remains on the reservation. Guests making a booking onboard must sail within 18 months after the date the origin booking was made on board. Block out dates for this offer apply; 2014 dates not eligible for this offer include: Disney Fantasy 2/15, 3/8, 3/15, 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, 4/19, 4/26, 5/31, 6/14, 6/21, 12/20, 12/27; Disney Dream 4/13, 4/17, 4/20, 6/29, 7/3, 7/6, 12/22, 12/29; Disney Wonder 4/13, 4/18, 4/23, 5/17, 5/19, 6/30, 12/21, 12/26, 12/30; Disney Magic 4/14, 4/18, 4/21, 7/14, 7/26, 12/21, 12/28; 2015 dates not eligible for this offer include; Disney Fantasy 3/28, 4/4; Disney Dream 3/30, 4/3, 4/6; Disney Wonder 3/29, 4/3′ Disney Magic 3/29, 4/5.

This is the second change to the Onboard Booking Policy in as many months. In November, the onboard booking policy was modified to add an 18-month expiration date. As with anything, these dates are subject to change at anytime without notice. I would not be surprised to see more block out dates added.
As much as I love Disney, the loss of the 10% discount might just drive to sample other cruise lines when the price differential becomes too large. Sad.
Sounds like business must be good for DCL, they seem to be focusing more on first time DCL cruisers then return cruisers
Really enjoy the Disney Fantasy and will be traveling on my second cruise in April. I never booked this cruise on board to take advantage of the discount but was planning to book again for Dec this year taking advantage of the discount. Now with the blackout period, I am reconsidering going again this year.
3 questions based on this new blackout policy as well as the 1 booking limitation and onboard reduced deposit revisions:
1. How many cruises can be booked onboard back-to-back without limitation? For example, is it just 2, or could it be back-to-back-to back 3 or even back-to-back-to-back-to-back 4? We are really considering doing a month onboard by using all our annual vacation at once, but want to be in the same cabin (which is probably why DCL allows this exception).
2. If the first part of the back-to-back booking is not a blackout sailing, but the next part is, will the blackout still apply to the second cruise? Or, hopefully, will the first cruise apply as the start date, making the blackout date discountable by 10%?
3. Is each sailing a separate reservation number so if we had to move one of the sailings in the back-to-back, it would be possible without effecting the other sailings?
