Hurricane Leslie Update September 5, 2012

8 AM Update

Tropical Storm Leslie is barely moving north-northwestward at 2 mph with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. Tropical storm force winds are extending outward up to 230 miles. Leslie is expected to grow in size over the next several days.

Yesterday, the majority of models were showing Leslie just passing over the east coast Newfoundland. However, overnight the models shifted to the west.

This track will more than likely shift daily, but unless the track moves east Leslie could affect Nova Scotia or Newfoundland by early next week.

2 PM Update

Not much has change with regards to Leslie’s forecast, and she is still crawling at 2 mph. She may intensify into a category 1 hurricane by the end of the day.

5 PM Update: Hurricane Leslie

Leslie has grown into a category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. She is still barely moving north at 2 mph.
