Disney Fantasy’s September 9th Bermuda Cruise Switches to Western Caribbean Due to Hurricane Lee

On Wednesday afternoon, guests booked on the Disney Fantasy’s September 9, 2023 voyage were informed by Disney Cruise Line the itinerary would be altered from a 8-night Bermuda and Bahamian Cruise to an 8-night Western Caribbean Cruise due to the impending track of then, Tropical Storm Lee which late Wednesday intensified into Hurricane Lee.

We have been closely monitoring Tropical Storm Lee, which is currently moving through the Atlantic Ocean and is predicted to become a hurricane later this week. Based on the storm’s current forecast track, Bermuda and the seas around Bermuda will be potentially impacted over the next week and a half, making it unsuitable for cruise travel.

As a result, Disney Cruise Line made modifications to the itinerary positioning the Disney Fantasy away from the hurricane’s forecast track bypassing Bermuda. The revised Western Caribbean sailing will visit Cozumel, Mexico, and George Town, Grand Cayman, as well as back-to-back days at Castaway Cay.

The revised itinerary is below:

8-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral

  1. Saturday September 9, 2023 – Port Canaveral, Florida
  2. Sunday September 10, 2023 – At Sea
  3. Monday September 11, 2023 – Cozumel, Mexico
  4. Tuesday September 12, 2023 – Grand Cayman
  5. Wednesday September 13, 2023 – At Sea
  6. Thursday September 14, 2023 – Castaway Cay
  7. Friday September 15, 2023 – Castaway Cay
  8. Saturday September 16, 2023 – Nassau, Bahamas
Sunday September 17, 2023 – Port Canaveral, Florida (Debarkation)

To show their appreciation, Disney Cruise Line will be providing an onboard credit of up to $200 for each stateroom to use during this sailing. This credit will automatically appear on the stateroom account and can be used onboard towards the purchase of shipboard services, merchandise, food and beverages, or Port Adventures. Additionally, each reservation will receive a 20% discount on a future cruise reservation taken prior to September 9, 2025.

Any Port Adventures pre-reserved in Bermuda will be removed from guests’ Cruise Plans. Port Adventures for Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay may be booked up to three days prior to sailing online or once onboard through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

Good Morning Scott. This is my cruise! I have mixed emotions. Disappointed we aren’t going to Bermuda But safety is #1. Disney, who didn’t have to do what they are doing, but this is why we love sailing with Disney.!!!!!!

We cruise in a month and recognize that it’s always a risk hitting the high seas in hurricane season. We’d be fine with an itinerary change as long as it’s not cancelled! But of course know that safety is the first priority.

It’s hurricane season, and they have to make adjustments, but considering how much of a specialty a Bermuda cruise is, I don’t think the response is quite enough.

It feels like the bare minimum they do for all cruises. But for an 8 night specialty cruise? I dunno. I expect it to be an unpleasant sailing for the Guest Services crew.

They reserve the right to modify sailings, but if you’re modifying a one off sailing you better offer more than this. I feel bad for the guests who booked this.

Some people don’t consider a CC double dip to be enticing. I’m one of them. It’s stale, like many DCL menus.

And I agree with the other Dave, they should be doing something more than the standard $200 on-board credit and 20% off a future cruise here. I understand and fully agree with changing the itinerary, but this isn’t a cruise that runs regularly.

Hey, it’s still eight days on a Disney ship. Bermuda will be there for the foreseeable future so we’ll go there some other time.

I will be on the 4-night Bahamian Cruise on the Wish leaving out of Port Canaveral on Monday, 9/11. I’m hoping that we will be able to get back to Port Canaveral to disembark on 9/15…that’s really my biggest concern at this time. I won’t be super bummed about missing Nassau and Castaway Cay
