On Monday night, Disney Cruise Line sent out emails to guests booked on Friday’s Disney Wish Sailing with some important information about a potential embarkation time delay for the scheduled 3-Night Bahamian cruise departing Port Canaveral on Friday, September 30, 2022.
As you may be aware, Hurricane Ian is currently located in the Western Caribbean and is forecasted to make landfall on the west coast of Florida on Wednesday. We have been closely monitoring the storm and based on the current projected forecast, we anticipate that the Disney Wish will arrive into Port Canaveral on Friday later than originally scheduled. A delayed arrival would also impact embarkation for your sailing.
Should your boarding be delayed, we will notify you of your new arrival time. Should there be an impact to your scheduled itinerary, it will be communicated to you onboard.
Earlier this afternoon, guests onboard the Disney Wish for the 4-night Bahamian Cruise departing today, were informed there may be a delayed arrival back into Port Canaveral for the vessel on Friday depending on the future path of Hurricane Ian.
On Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port set conditions at Port Canaveral to “X-RAY”. X–RAY means condition set when weather advisories indicates sustained gale force winds (39–54 mph/34–47 knots) from a tropical or hurricane force storm are predicted to make landfall at the port within 48 hours.
Port Canaveral anticipates moving to the port condition “YANKEE” by tomorrow (Tuesday, September 27th) evening. YANKEE is set when weather advisories indicate that sustained Gale Force winds from a tropical or hurricane force storm are predicted to make landfall at the port within 24 hours. When the status is YANKEE, all commercial, ocean- going vessels and barges over 500 GT are prohibited from entering the regulated areas designated as being in Port Condition YANKEE; within 24 hours of anticipated landfall of gale force winds (39 mph) from tropical or hurricane force storm; or upon the Coast Guard setting Port Condition YANKEE for in- bound ocean going commercial vessel traffic over 500 GT. Oceangoing commercial vessel traffic outbound will be authorized to transit through the regulated areas until Port Condition ZULU.
At the time of publication, no other changes have been announced and there are no weather related travel alerts posted on Disney Cruise Line’s website.
