Disney Cruise Line delivered gifts to nearly 1,500 children in hospitals, schools and children’s care facilities throughout Disney’s port of call communities around the world as part of company’s ongoing efforts to provide joy during the holiday season. According to the Disney Parks Blog, Crew Members from all four ships and Castaway Cay joined Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie to bring some holiday cheer during outreach visits that celebrate the spirit of giving and gratitude.
In addition to ports of call, Mickey Mouse visited 80 children at the Meyer Werft’s nursery at the Papenburg shipyard’s visitor center. The children had the opportunity to take photos with Mickey Mouse, color Disney pictures, and each child received Mickey Mouse plush.
In April 2013, Meyer Werft opened its first in-house nursery. The Nautilus nursery operates from 7 AM through 5 PM providing child care for children under the age of 3 years, as well as a kindergarten group for children of 3 years and up.
Meyer Werft will deliver three new cruise ships to Disney Cruise Line beginning with the Disney Wish which is scheduled for delivery in late 2021 and will set sail in January 2022. Steel cutting is expected to commence on or around March 22, 2020.
