The Disney Fantasy left Port Canaveral on Saturday August 24, 2019 for a scheduled 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise, the same day tropical depression five formed in the Atlantic Ocean. Tropical depression five soon intensified to Tropical Storm Dorian with a forecast track through the Lesser Antilles.
The forecast track of Tropical Storm Dorian resulted in Captain Marco making the decision to re-route the Disney Fantasy to the Western Caribbean. In a letter to guests, the changed was made due to the possible impact of Tropical Storm Dorian to the Eastern Caribbean and to keep a safe distance from the the tropical system that is forecast to intensify into a hurricane later in the week.
The revised itinerary for the August 24th sailing will feature a stop in Grand Cayman on Tuesday, and Cozumel on Thursday. The scheduled stop at Castaway Cay on Friday is still planned as the the tropical system is forecast to be well south of the Disney’s private island as a tropical depression.
