Personal Navigator – Day 3
Before we arrived at Nassau, we were up early and in the gym before breakfast in Cabanas.
I’ve reach my limit of Joffrey’s coffee onboard. For this cruise I pulled out my trusty old friend, a Boded travel mug French press which I purchased years ago during the Nescafe days.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Joffrey’s coffee, but the ‘from concentrate’ coffee available onboard is not to my liking. But Scott, why not just go to Cove or Vista Cafe? Well, that is a very good question. I don’t want to pay for regular coffee, in the case of the cafes, that would be ordering an Americano. Emily & I are enjoying using our travel French press mugs and they will be added to our cruise packing list for the future.
I headed down to Guest Services to pick up a paper Personal Navigator, which have been readily available and self serve. The next day’s have been out the previous evenings. On my way back, I walked past Mickey’s Mainsail and I saw the coolest thing.
Woody, Buzz, and Jessie were out reading over the PAPER navigator.
Following breakfast, I made my way to the pool deck to secure our spots for the morning for the Toy Story movie marathon on Funnel Vision. The AquaDuck opened at 9 o’clock and the line was rather short during the first hour of operation. Shorty after Isabelle and Emily arrived at the pool, I set off on a quest ashore.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s trip report, Matt from the Royal Caribbean Blog told me where to go to get a SIM card. Matt’s directions were spot on! However, the quest was a failure.
The mobile wi-fi shack was indeed directly across from the Pirates Republic Brewing Company. The problem was they were all out of SIM cards and told me to take a taxi to their other location in Harbor Bay… As for the backup plan of still going to the brewery, Pirates Republic didn’t open until 11 o’clock and I promised I’d be back onboard around 11 for an early lunch.
Tried pulling off another stop along the James Bond tour, the Never Say Never Again Bar & Grill. Unfortunately, the backup to my backup was also closed.
I was treated to a wonderful view of the Disney Dream’s stern.
We had lunch on the pool deck and dessert from Cove Cafe.
Eventually returned to the room to clean up and finish watching Flight of the Navigator before our next group activity, a live podcast recording.
The podcast recording was held in Outlook lounge, a hidden gem on deck 14 above EDGE. This was the first time we recoded the podcast with a group and it was a lot of fun. The episode will be up this coming Friday.
Afterwards, we spotted the Moet cart in the Quiet Cove.
Following the podcast record, was Isabelle’s scavenger hunt. There ended up being an extra free space because one of the items was the Midship Detective Agency magnifying glass on the floor in the Vista Gallery which is no longer there now that Tiffany & Co has taken over the deck 5 space.
The scavenger hunt turned out to be a bit harder than we planned, but in reality this was a good thing. If anyone is interested, let me know in the comments, and I will post the full scavenger hunt for you to print and use on a future cruise aboard the Dream.
Today, was Pirate Night with the pirate menu in Animator’s Palate. Really loved the way the venue transforms with Pirates of the Caribbean concept artwork on the restaurant’s screens. I want to say the menu was newish, but I will need take a closer look when I get home. It very well could be that we have not been to a pirate night dinner in a long time. The pirate night dinner menu changed since we last experienced the menu in March on the Fantasy.
Tonight’s after dinner trivia in 687 was 90’s Tunes Trivia!
We did an admirable job (38 out of 40), but couldn’t compete with a perfect score.
90% of our group scooted out of trivia in order to secure seats in the Walt Disney Theatre for the Toy Story 4. The movie PremEAR was last night at 11PM, but tonight the movie was the evening entertainment opposite dinner seatings. I may be in the minority, but it was not my favorite of the franchise. Considering the shorts and the Halloween special, it may not even be in my top 5. However, I am happy that Forky didn’t turn out to be a Lotso. I love Forky! Honorable mention to John Wick, er, Duke Kaboom too!
After the movie, we headed back to the room and as we were going to bed, we caught the Buccaneer Blast fireworks from our verandah.
Tomorrow we return to Castaway Cay!
Love the paper navigator reference 🙂
Would love the scavenger hunt!
Me too! We will be on the Dream for a few days at the end of July
Disappointing to hear that DCL has not responded to guest feedback with regards to delivering the Navigators to the staterooms but glad to hear that at least they are available the previous evening. Yes, would definitely love to have the scavenger hunt print out!
I’m ok with the compromise, picking them up at guest services is not a problem now that they have them out to grab without standing in line.
I too am ok with the compromise. Making them readily available without forcing guests to wait in line is ok. I know that the on-board staff understand that screen-free time is extremely important to a lot of guests. I suppose it’s a balancing act
I was on the Fantasy in May and my stateroom host put paper navigators in our room each night (we requested that he do so). I was so happy!
Would love scavenger hunt
Disappointed to hear that paper navigators are not still being delivered to state rooms but glad that they are at least out the night before for pick up. Would love the scavenger hunt for the Dream please. Thanks!
Ugh about paper navigators not being delivered to staterooms. What a pain.
Scott can you tell us which stateroom you were in? We are in 10166 (fantasy) on our next 2. THX
