Disney Cruise Line announced updates to ground transportation pricing for home ports of Port Canaveral, Civitavecchia (Rome), and Copenhagen. Port Canaveral is the only home port to see an increase in ground transportation costs up $4 to $39 per person. Elsewhere, the cost per person decreased ranging from $5 to $20 per person less!
Disney Cruise Line’s revised ground transportation rates are effective as of December 14, 2018. However, the grandfathering of rates varies based on the home port. All reservations for Port Canaveral, with an effective date of December 14, 2018 and beyond will have the updated transfer cost reflected on the reservation. For Port Canaveral reservations with an effective date prior to December 14, 2018, the transfers will be priced at the current rate. Guests who are added to a reservation on or after December 14, 2018 will be charged the new price.
For Copenhagen and Civitavecchia reservations, all existing reservations will be adjusted to the new price as well as new bookings. Basically, you will pay the new price regardless of when you reserved ground transportation.

What are your thoughts on Disney Cruise Line’s ground transportation price changes?
The increased Port Canaveral costs will move more groups to rental cars and private limo/van service, making the existing traffic situation worse. It now costs $160, up $20 from $140 for a family of 4.
The extra $160 round trip cost for our family of 4 just isn’t worth it — especially when you add on the cost of 4 plane tickets.
Our first two cruises we flew down but every cruise since we have driven even though it is a 13 hour drive.
