The results of Travel+Leisure’s 2016 Annual World’s Best Awards have been revealed earlier this month with Disney Cruise Line being named the number two Mega-Ship Ocean Cruise Line falling just 0.3 points behind Cunard.
Readers rated individual cruise ships on their cabins and facilities, food, service, itineraries and destinations, excursions and activities, and value. Those assessments were combined to generate results for the cruise lines in five categories; mega-ship ocean cruise lines have ships that can carry 2,200 passengers or more.
World’s Best: Cruise Line 2016 – Mega-Ship Ocean
|2||Disney Cruise Line||86.64|
|5||Royal Caribbean International||78.86|
The annual “World’s Best” list recognizes the best in travel for hotels, cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, car-rental agencies, spas, and tour operators and safari outfitters. Winners were selected by readers who participated in a survey and rated cruise lines on criteria including cabins, food, service, itineraries and destinations, activities and value. For the cruise category, respondents were asked to rate individual ships; the results were combined to generate scores for cruise lines in different categories. The categories are: river cruise lines, mega-ship ocean cruise lines (capacity of 2,200 passengers or more), large-ship ocean cruise lines (600 to 2,199 passengers), midsize-ship ocean cruise lines (250 to 599 passengers), and small-ship ocean cruise lines (249 or fewer passengers). Some cruise lines may appear in multiple categories depending on the makeup of their fleet. Click here to read more on T+L’s methodology for scoring.
