Disney Magic Makes Inaugural Call to Boston, Massachusetts

On May 18, 2016, the Disney Magic made her inaugural call to Boston, Massachusetts during the first leg of the 2016 14-Night Eastbound Transatlantic cruise which embarked from Port Canaveral on Sunday.

In honor of this inaugural visit, Captain Andy McRonald and shipboard officials welcomed local port and community leaders onboard for a traditional maritime plaque exchange ceremony.

“All of us aboard the Disney Magic are extremely proud to be a part of this inaugural voyage to Boston,” said Captain Andy McRonald. “It’s no secret that Boston is teeming with American history and culture, and we’re certain our guests will enjoy exploring the city’s rich offerings.”

Late next week the Disney Magic will make two more inaugural calls on Thursday May 26th in Dublin, Ireland and Liverpool, England the following day.

“Each of these destinations provides our guests with unique travel experiences deeply rooted in history, culture and natural beauty,” said Captain Andy McRonald. “We’re truly honored to be able to bring our guests to these incredible cities and inspire vacation memories that will last a lifetime.”

To commemorate these inaugural visits, Captain Andy McRonald and shipboard officials will host local port and community leaders onboard the 2,700 passenger vessel for a traditional maritime plaque exchange ceremony in each port of call.

This summer season, the Disney Magic will take 13 European voyages with return stops to Dublin and Liverpool in June during a 12-night Britain and Ireland sailing departing from Dover. The Disney Magic will also return to Sydney, Nova Scotia later this year in September during a transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to New York City.

With the Manhattan Cruise Terminal fully available yesterday this would seem to be Disney testing the waters for future cruises out of New York and possible New England / Canadian itineraries. NCL and Carnival include Boston out of New York in the fall.

We are waiting for Disney to have a cruise leaving from Boston! We can’t afford to fly someplace to pick up the cruise…. Would really like to get it in Boston.
