The Arr-cade was minding it’s own business on the day they came. They showed a piece of paper saying eminent domain. They built an ice cream shop saying iPads were to blame. So after Ralph got mad, he got hungry and he ordered Gelato scoop by Gelato Scoop to welcome Vanellope Von Schweetz to the Disney Dream.
During the Disney Dream’s 2015 dry dock, Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats was added replacing the former Arr-cade on the starboard side, aft area near Cabanas on deck 11. There is an entrance inside Cabanas as well as on the pool deck just outside the door to Cabanas.
When you walk in Vanellope’s from the pool deck you will see her go-kart and a mural of a scene from Sugar Rush.
Next to the go-kart stands King Candy on the winner podium waving a checkered flag.
Offset from behind the counter is Vanellope hanging from a Candy Cane tree straight out of the movie when Ralph meets her for the first time.
Below is a video walkthrough of Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats to help you get the lay of the land… Oops, I meant Sugar Rush. If you get tired of watching the video make sure you at least watch the scenes with the gum-ball machines for a nice surprise.
Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats Menu
Now that we’ve covered the design of the space, lets move along to the sweets and treats. Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats as the name implies offers a variety of options including sugary snacks similar to those you’d find around Walk Disney World, bulk candy, pre-packaged Disney candy, macaroons and many different flavors of gelato. There are three display screens above the display cases which display the menu and a leaderboard.
The leaderboard is dynamic and will adjust based on sales of the particular artisan sundaes.
There are smaller menus available on the top of the display cases to make it easier to read over the artisan sundae selections.
The five scoop Ralph’s Family Challenge sundae comes in a trophy souvenir cup while the three scoop Vanellope’s Go-Kart Sunday arrives in a go-kart. After two full cruises since opening there are none on eBay. I am shocked. Why didn’t I corner the Vanellope’s market on eBay?
The two marquee sundaes will set you back $20 for Ralph’s and $13 for Vanellope’s.
The other sundaes are either $4.95 or $5.95. The gelato and ice cream is the available by the scoop with the ice cream slightly cheaper than the gelato.

The three large gum ball machines in the center of Vanellope’s contain pre-packaged Disney branded ChocolateEARS, Chip and Dale Snack Mixes, lollipops and other sweet and savory treats you can find around Walt Disney World.
Oh, one last tidbit related to Vanellope’s. The soft serve Eye Scream remains available those that have been asking if this was going to disappear.
Overall, I thought Vanellope’s was well executed and themed. I just wish there was a full size Ralph next to Vanellope’s go-kart. Even if you are not interested in making a purchase it is well worth the visit to see the space. Make sure you take a minute to hang out around the red gum ball machine for a little interactive surprise. I thought the prices were not bad for the gelato (one scoop for $2.95), but the macaroon for $2.00 was not worth it considering my wife thought it was previously frozen (not to mention TINY). Just for the sake of comparison we judge all macaroons based on the ones you can get at the France Pavilion at Epcot. Those are good; these are not. The bulk candy is just that — bulk candy. It is $9.95/pound & the variety was decent and may be a place to stop before heading to the Buena Vista Theatre for a movie. With so many included food and dessert options onboard the Disney Dream, I do not see myself spending all that much money at Vanellope’s aside from an artisan sundae or a scoop of ice cream or gelato from time to time depending on the flavors. Just like the Arr-cade, you may want to discuss charging privileges to those you authorize to charge to the stateroom. Also, If you want to avoid or keep those hungry eyes off of Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats limit your walking to the port side of deck 11 you will never see the new venue.
Hi Scott, What a great, in-depth review! Is the arcade gone or has it been relocated? Sorry if you already covered that in an earlier post!
Thank you Gina. The arcade is gone.
Do you have to get a full pound of the bulk, or will they let you get a half or quarter?
You can get any amount. It will be weighted and priced accordingly.
The confections look wonderful! I can’t wait to try some next October. 🙂
Super cute and well themed. But, I don’ t think it would be a draw for our family. Especially with Eye Scream, Mickey Bars via room service, and the small pastries available at Cove or Vista Cafe. There is no need for any more! We easily met our 5,000 calories per day with other offerings on the ship! haha
Am I the only one that says meh? I am not excited about this, there is so much more that could have been done with the space.
No. You’re not the only one. There is already enough free stuff goodies that I don’t need to spend any extra on candy or ice cream. I am sure it will tempt the kids and they will ask us for some, but I will do my best to keep them out of there. I hope they don’t end up doing this on all the ships. I’d rather send my kids to the arcade than the candy store!
Gina,
I cosign this!!
I’m glad people are excited about the variety, but there is so much food and ice cream abound, I am not paying for extra calories. My kids love Frozone’s and Ice Screams and the Ice Cream at Cabana, so no need to me pay for this (just my personal opinion!) Others – enjoy!!
Does this mean you can no longer get hand scooped ice cream at Cabanas as a dessert option?
Hand scooped ice cream was still available in Cabanas.
In the fourth picture under Vanellope’s Treats, there are a few items that have a sticker covering the name tags that cut out the price of the treats. But in the video, those same items do have a price tag. Does this mean some of them are free at certain times of the day, or is that me just being hopeful?
No, the pictures where items did not have prices were taken on in the early afternoon just as Vanellope’s opened to guests for the first time. I shot the video a little at another time.
I gotta say, the leaderboard changing based on sales is a bloody brilliant piece of theming.
I wounder how this will affect traffic flow leaving Cabannas and the aft elevators. After the first time eating at Cabanna’s and walking out past Vanellope’s, I can see a lot of parents not wanting to have to continuously tell their kids NO, and choosing to out on the Port side.
My kid is one to keep asking everything we go by, so I would prevent the impending argument by not walking past Vanellopes.
Really i miss the arcade and i wan to ake an all inclusive cruise it is really a problem
So there was an arcade? I’m sorry, I wasn’t there when it was.
Yes, there was an arcade in this space.
Great review! Does the Fantasy have a similar store on board?
At this time the Disney Fantasy does not have a similar location. However, the Disney Fantasy will be going in for her first dry dock and I would not be surprised if a similar venue was added assuming Vanellope’s is doing good business.
Hi, thanks for the review. Do you happen to have any special dietary information about Vanellope’s? Did they generally have ingredient information if it is not obvious if I can or can’t have something? Also, I have a game room card from a previous Disney Dream cruise that I was told is valid on future cruises. Do you have any idea if I can do anything with it?
Robert, I am sorry. I do not have any information on the dietary information. They are very friendly inside and I am sure they will be able to answer any specific questions related to the ingredients.
As for the game room card… Um. You would need to as DCL about that one.
