It is a fact that pizza is one of my favorite things to eat. Pizza was a staple of mine in college and continues to be a go to choice when we do not want to cook dinner. We recently started making our own pizzas at home with our daughter. Making pizzas at home is a great way to get the kids cooking. Aside from baking it too long, it is really hard to mess up a pizza. Plus, it is a lot of fun to experiment. In fact, I started to look for some inspiration via my collection of food pictures from our past cruises. After finding a few great ideas, I gathered a sampling of the pizzas served by Disney Cruise Line to share with you. We will start at the bottom of the pizza pyramid with quick service and work our way up.
Quick Service Pizza
Just because I placed quick service pizza at the bottom of the pizza pyramid does not mean it is not good. Considering the pizza is readily available throughout the day on the pool deck from either Luigi’s Pizza (Flo’s V8 Cafe) or Pinocchio’s Pizzeria, it is placed at the bottom based solely on abundance. These pizza joints are busier than a any chain the night before Thanksgiving. Seriously, there is a constant stream of people grabbing a slice while enjoying their time on the upper decks.
We sampled each of the selections from Luigi’s Pizza on the Disney Fantasy. Clockwise:
- Prosciutto & Gorgonzola
- Basil & Tomato
- Chicken & BBQ
- Vegetarian Specialty (Black Olive, Goat Cheese & Spinach)
- Thin Crust Pepperoni
- Thin Crust Cheese
As one would expect, the Prosciutto & Gorgonzola had the best overall flavor. The surprise favorite were both thin crust options, as they were flavorful and light. My wife prefers the thin crust cheese, as does our daughter. The pizzas are almost always fresh as a result of the steady stream of guests grabbing a slice or two in between rides on the AquaDuck.
Cabanas Buffet Pizza
Additional quick service pizzas can be found in Cabanas. This second step of the pizza pyramid is more or less identical to the pizza from Luigi’s, but availability is limited to certain times of the day. The ever popular cheese pizza is always available in Cabanas, with a variety of specialty pizzas such as this Hawaiian pizza with ham and pineapple, as well as a Chicken Florentine pizza. If you are craving something special, just ask!
Room Service Pizza
Room service pizza on Disney Cruise Line in my opinion, is one of those best kept secrets garnering the middle spot on the pizza pyramid. Each pizza is made to order and arrives nice and gooey!
- Four Cheese Pizza
Mozzarella, Mascarpone, Gorgonzola and Parmesan on a rich Tomato Sauce - Vegetarian Delight Pizza
Fresh Tomato, Mozzarella Cheese, Portobello Mushrooms, mixed Bell Peppers and Artichokes - Pepperoni Pizza
Mozzarella Cheese and Pepperoni
The Four Cheese Pizza from room service is a treat for anyone that loves a flavorful cheese pizza. Again, you can alway ask for additional toppings.
Palo Brunch Pizza
As we continue to move up the pizza pyramid we arrive at Palo Brunch. These pizzas are all made to order and are full of flavor. When you first arrive for brunch your server will take you on a mouth watering tour of the various offerings which includes the sample pizzas!
It is really tough to choose between the Margherita Pizza, Sun-dried Tomato with Goat Cheese Pizza, Gorgonzola and Grape Pizza with a Port Wine Reduction Pizza, and the Spicy Sausage Pizza. Our favorite is the Gorgonzola & Grape, and I also like the Spicy Sausage pizza. At Palo brunch, you can order a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza, allowing you to be able to try two kinds!
Palo Dinner Pizza
This is a strong statement from me….. The Quattro Formaggi from Palo with Mozzerella, Mascarpone, Gorgonzola, and Parmesan cheeses is hands down my favorite pizza! Just look at that cheesy goodness. The sad part about this is that this pizza is no longer on the dinner menu at Palo; but remains as the pinnacle of the pizza pyramid.
Since pizza is no longer on the Palo dinner menu, the Sweet Pizza for dessert in Palo aboard the Magic & Wonder fill in as the best pizza available on a Disney Cruise.
What is your favorite Disney Cruise pizza?
After writing this article, we felt the urge to make pizza for dinner! Stuff crust, Italian cheese blend, pizza seasoning from the Spice and Tea exchange.
Can’t wait to have Palo pizza for brunch on the Magic in October!!
I hear ya! We’re making pizza for dinner tonight. I may get creative.
No contest. It’s the Gorgonzola and Grape Pizza at Palo’s. MUST have it every cruise.
I got a split pizza at the Palo brunch, half gorgonzola and grape pizza and the other half sun-dried tomato and goat cheese pizza. Loved them both, but I ate more of the Gorgonzola and grape side!
LOVe that Palo pizza. Actually, not really pizza, but one of my favorite things was that pizza-like flatbread they served with the bread service… i think at dinner? It was buttery and garlicky and I could have probably just eaten that and been ridiculously happy.
The fresh bread served during Palo dinner is goooood! We even asked for extra to take back and share with our daughter.
Grape is my fave! Husb also loves spicy sausage!
I was really impressed by the pizza at Luigis on the Fantasy this spring. It was much better than I expected it to be.
Just got off the Dream.8/8/13 You forgot to mention that you can get Gluten Free pies on the pool deck. The Gluten Free pies are not that bad. If traveling on the Wonder or the Magic you have to have it delivered to your room. It is not as good via room service,

Hands down, Palo Goat Cheese and Sundried Tomato is my favorite. Hubby likes the Grape and gorgonzola so we get half of each!
Can you order pizza without cheese?
Yes
Is the pizza dough made fresh or is it a premade crust like they used in 2012?
Which pizza are you asking about? I am almost certain that Palo is the only place that uses fresh dough and the other are mass produced using premade crust. The volume is too much for it not to be on the pool deck and cabanas.
Carnival, Princess and Celebrity make their crust fresh and there is always a long line and are open long hours on the deck. I just did not like Disney’s pre-made crust on deck and was hoping they had made the change like Carnival did. Thank you.
