As the summer sun shines down on us all, I figured it was a good time to add a new smartphone/tablet wallpaper to the growing collection. This was a shot of the Disney Magic’s all new Twist ‘n’ Spout waterslide near the end of her first day back to Castaway Cay following her extended dry dock in the fall of 2013. Each time I pass by this photo in my Lightroom catalog, I am caught by the sun’s starburst through the aft funnel and figured it was time to do something with the photo.
The Disney Magic returned from her extensive dry dock with all new youth spaces for children ages 3-12 to explore. The Oceaneer Lab and Oceaneer Club were completely renovated to bring the youth activities venues more in line with those aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. The Oceaneer Lab renovations were based on a nautical theme full of high-tech gear to bring out the inner-pirate. One of the more prominent transformations on the reimagined Disney Magic was the overhaul to Parrot Cay (one of the three rotational dining restaurants on the ship) into the Brazilian themed restaurant, Carioca’s. The venue’s entrance on the port side of deck 3 aft welcomes guests as they walk down the Portuguese pavement inspired walkway past a beautiful mural featuring the Three Caballeros flying past the Brazilian coastline. Carioca’s has been designed to provide guests with a dynamic dining experience inspired by South American fresh markets. Immediately, you will notice a stark contrast from the darker earth… Continue reading
We are now home, unpacked and settling back into to normal life following 7-nights on the reimagined Disney Magic. We wanted to provide you all with a follow up to our first impressions, as well as some final thoughts on the Disney Magic. As you’ve likely read by now, things started off on a sour note when we boarded the Magic on October 25th, but I’m happy to report things progressively improved over the course of the Magic’s second cruise, a 5-night Western Caribbean sailing which sailed to Cozumel and Castaway Cay.
This sailing had a version of… Continue reading
