I have a question… how does the customs and border patrol work for Key West? Do they actually have to go through customs? Like I am confused on that.
The ship must still be cleared by local authorities upon arrival. You are subject to the same screening when re-boarding as you would experience at other ports of call.
To further that information, I was on this cruise and the morning we docked in Key West Disney had assigned a time for our state room to go to the D Lounge (our time was at 6:45 am). There, we showed our room key, ID (drivers license, Passport) to the local authorities that checked us off. We received a sticker to put on our room key and then went back to bed.
Not sure if this is the information you were looking for, but I thought I would throw that in.
Honestly that sorta stinks. I understand it is law and everything but getting up at 6:45 to go get your passport and driver license’s checked when you are on a cruise stinks. If Disney went to Key West first this wouldn’t be an issue correct? Only reason I assume this is because you came from a US port first.
