The Flying Dutchman prop ship used in the filming of Pirate of the Caribbean staring Johnny Depp was a focal point for guests going ashore at Castaway Cay between mid-2006 and late-2010. The set piece was never built to withstand the rigors of an ocean going vessel and after years of exposure to the elements in The Bahamas, the Flying Dutchman began to deteriorate. This prompted the eventual removal and demolition of the ship in November 2010.
