Disney Magic delayed by high winds; schedule altered
Gale force winds disrupted the schedule of the Disney Magic this past weekend, as the high winds prevented the ship from leaving Castaway Cay on Friday, keeping the ship at Disney's private island through Saturday. The ship was due back in port on Saturday to unload passengers and load up for another departure on its next cruise Saturday afternoon. The delay prevented the ship from returning to port until Sunday.
Those waiting to board the Magic were rerouted back to Walt Disney World and were offered 20 percent off of their current voyage, given $100 per cabin in shipboard credits plus $20 per person in credits for the cost of dinner on Saturday, offered overnight accommodations for Saturday night and given day tickets to Epcot. They were also given the option of canceling their cruise with no penalty and a full refund. Those whose return was delayed were offered 20 percent off of a future cruise and free cell phone calls to change travel arrangements. Those who booked their air travel through Disney had their travel arrangements taken care of for them.
An additional problem was posed by the fact that the Disney Wonder was also in port on Sunday, on its normal schedule. The Magic was forced to dock at another terminal to avoid disrupting the Wonder's schedule. SourceThese were the key booking dates for this sailing
