Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to lead a conference call this afternoon at 2 PM with representatives from the US Cruise Industry.
Today’s conference call is the make up for the meeting cancelled last Friday which was scheduled following the rumored White House overrule of the CDC Director’s wishes to extend the No Sail Order into 2021. Late last week, the CDC extended the No Sail Order through October 31st which was the rumored date from a report last week following a meeting with the Coronavirus Task Force.
We will continue to monitor this story and we hope to share news as soon as soon as it becomes available. According to the Vice President’s press release, the meeting is a closed press event so it is unknown when we may will hear details.
CNBC is reporting the subject of testing of passengers and crew members as well as the use of shorter itineraries. It was mentioned cruise lines are working to bring crew members back from Europe in anticipation of a living of the no sail order by the end of 2020. It sounds like Florida will host the eventual resumption of passenger cruises from the United States.
