Disney Cruise Line Announces (Winter) Early 2021 Itineraries (January – May) – Featuring New Ports of Call and a Return to New Orleans

Disney Cruise Line released their early 2021 itineraries today. The big news is the addition of two new ports of call, Yucatan (Progreso), Mexico, and Santa Catalina Island off the coast of California. Additionally, the Disney Wonder will be returning to New Orleans. The Magic will continue sailings from Miami.

The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy will remain at Port Canaveral. The Disney Dream will continue alternating 3- and 4-night Bahamian cruises on Fridays and Mondays. The Disney Fantasy continue her traditional alternating 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruise on Saturdays.

Today’s release extends the available sail dates through mid-2021 allowing guest to plan vacations more than one year out, as well as take advantage of opening day pricing for some of the new itineraries.

Although the dates were announced today, general booking will not open until Thursday October 3rd. However, there will be a tiered booking period beginning Monday September 30th.

  • Monday September 30th – Platinum Castaway Club members & Disney’s Golden Oaks residents
  • Tuesday October 1st – Gold Castaway Club members
  • Wednesday October 2nd – Silver Castaway Club members, Adventures by Disney Insiders, and DVC members who have not previously sailed with DCL
  • Thursday October 3rd, first time cruisers will be able to book.

If you’re an existing Castaway Club member, simply log in to your account now to verify your Castaway Club status, so you’ll be all set to book on your designated date. Alternatively, you can call (800) 388-4513 starting at 8:00 AM Eastern Time or contact your travel agent.

Golden Oak Club Members should contact Golden Oak Club Member Services, Disney Vacation Club Members wishing to book with points will need to call Member Services at (800) 800-9800. To make a cash-only booking, call Disney Cruise Line at (866) 325-6348. Finally, Adventures by Disney Insiders call (800) 388-4513 – or contact your travel agent.

Castaway Club members can book online beginning Monday! The only caveat is that this is for new bookings only as the website is still not set up to move a placeholder to a new booking. Those types of bookings will still require a phone call. For those having issues search the new cruises based on your Castaway Club status, you can try this solution I discovered during a previous release.

The following bears repeating, please do NOT try calling today to book; this will just clog up the phone lines and bog down the reservation cast members. There may be people attempting to book an available cruise vacation today.

Speaking of opening day, here is a look at opening day prices for the (Winter) Early 2021 sailings.

For anyone looking for Summer 2021 dates, we anticipate the next release to occur in early next year based on the historical itinerary release cycle.

Below you will find a breakout by ship, but this is a work in progress. I will be updating the website throughout the day as I load the sailings and upload the new itinerary maps. The best way to be alerted to updates if following me on Twitter @TheDCLblog – I will tweet updates as they are posted. At the very end, is Disney Cruise Line’s Early 2021 Itinerary Announcement press release.

Disney Cruise Line Announces Return to New Orleans, Popular Itineraries to Tropical Destinations in Early 2021

CELEBRATION, Fla. (Sept. 26, 2019) – In early 2021, Disney Cruise Line will return to New Orleans for a limited-time engagement with sailings to the Bahamas and Caribbean, including visits to Disney’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay. A lineup of popular itineraries will continue across the Disney fleet with cruises to tropical destinations from Texas, California and Florida.

Bookings open to the public on Oct. 3, 2019. More details on the itineraries spanning from January through May 2021 can be found on the Ports and Itineraries for 2021 page of disneycruise.com.

Return to New Orleans
Back by popular demand, the Disney Wonder will return to the bayou from late January through February 2021 with a series of magical voyages. A pair of four- and five-night cruises to the Western Caribbean kick off the season from New Orleans. The five-night voyage includes a visit to Progreso, Mexico, a new port of call for Disney Cruise Line on the Yucatan Peninsula. This quaint town is filled with treasures for families to explore together, from ancient Mayan ruins to hidden swimming holes filled with crystal-clear water.

Three seven-night sailings to the Bahamas with a stop at Castaway Cay, plus a 14-night Panama Canal cruise, round out the departures from the Crescent City in early 2021.

Guests sailing from New Orleans will experience the flavors and flair of the Big Easy both onboard the Disney Wonder and ashore. The sounds and sights of New Orleans come to life at Tiana’s Place restaurant, where families are transported to an era of southern charm, spirited jazz and street party celebrations with live music and other surprises inspired by the Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog.” Before or after their cruise, guests can savor the city’s distinct cuisine, visit family-friendly museums and parks, and take in the sounds of world-renowned live jazz music.

Popular Itineraries from Texas and California
The Disney Wonder will also return to the popular home ports of Galveston and San Diego in early 2021. Guests sailing from Texas can enjoy the white-sand beaches of the Western Caribbean on a series of four- and six-night cruises to Grand Cayman and Cozumel. One seven-night departure will feature stops at Key West, Nassau and Castaway Cay.
Following the season in New Orleans, the Disney Wonder heads to the West Coast for a variety of sailings to Baja and the Mexican Riviera departing from San Diego. Families can hunt for gold aboard a pirate ship in Cabo San Lucas, embark on an off-road adventure in Ensenada or sunbathe on glittering sand beaches on cruises ranging from three to seven nights.

Bahamian and Caribbean Getaways from Florida
Disney Cruise Line will have three ships sailing to the Bahamas and Caribbean from Florida in early 2021, and every cruise includes a day at Disney’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay. This award-winning destination, reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests, is the ultimate escape for everyone in the family. A day at Castaway Cay offers opportunities for adventure and relaxation in a lush, tropical setting filled with classic Disney storytelling.
From Miami, the Disney Magic will sail three-, four- and five-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean cruises.
From Port Canaveral, the Disney Fantasy will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.
From Port Canaveral, the Disney Dream will sail three- and four-night Bahamian cruises.

I guess that with the increased commitments to Galveston and New Orleans, something had to give so no Southern Caribbean out of San Juan in 2021

I was thinking the same thing. I loved the Southern Caribbean cruises out of San Juan and the repositioning from San Juan to Port Canaveral. It makes a nice Back to Back.

Something else, with the Wonder 1/22 cruise going back to Galveston on 1/26 and the 1/27 cruise starting from NOLA. I take it that DCL will be moving the ship from Galveston to NOLA on 1/26 with no passengers?

Final thought, I promise… With the Wonder arriving only in Vancouver on 05/18, curious to see with the next announcement whether that Hawai cruises will be a one time deal, or we will see DCL shorten the Alaskan season by a few weeks in 2021.

I think you may be on to something about Hawaii. Seems pricey at the moment but even with more cruises to Hawaii, I don’t see the prices going down very much.

I wonder that, too! The first Alaskan of the season has always traditionally sailed on Victoria Day, but this schedule has the Wonder arriving a week earlier than usual. So yes….will they have a couple of Hawaii cruises in there in the next announcement before they sail to Alaska?

If we were considering the 5/23 Western Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy, should we assume that will be in the next round of dates? It looks like the last available booking will be 5/15?

Thanks. So will that cruise be released in the next round of dates? Just want to make sure I don’t miss it when my booking date opens. It is not listed above under the Fantasy for Western Caribbean.

It could go either way. We could find out Monday once the sailings are online, or maybe they are holding the themed announcements back to drive bookings at a later date.

Hmm…When might the 3rd DCL Blog cruise take place?? Anxiously awaiting that announcement since I haven’t been able to make the 1st or 2nd! : )
I’m a little surprised by the Catalina port though. Has DCL ever gone to Catalina before? It seems like a step down but I really have no idea.

Soooo when do you think they will announce the rest of dates in May for the Wonder. Hoping for sailings to Hawaii.

I see where you mention a 7 day 5/22 Western Caribbean Sailing on the Fantasy, but I don’t see that in the actual press release?

Beth, it was not in the press release, but it is listed in the PDF brochures that were released. However, it could very well be that come Monday, the 5/22 sailing is a no sell and the sailing is chartered.
