IJmuiden, Netherlands Port Summary

IJmuiden was used as an alternative port to Amsterdam on July 31, 2022 when there was low fresh water level in the Amsterdam area due to warm weather and low rainfall, which is leading to higher salt levels in the Northsea Chanel between IJmuiden and Amsterdam.

Because of that the locks at IJmuiden are operating in a restricted regime to reduce the volume of salt water flowing into the area from the North Sea. They only operate between 06:00 and 18:00 and locking is not done at request per ship, but only when multiple ships can be handled together.
 
It would appear the Disney Magic chose  IJmuiden because it is outside the lock in open connection to the Sea.
