Halloween on the High Seas will return in 2014 expanding to the entire Disney Cruise Line fleet on most sailings from late September through October. These sailings will feature frightfully fun events and activities complete with Halloween decorations, unique culinary treats, and spook-tacular themed deck parties. The Pumpkin Tree that was introduced in 2013 on the Disney Dream which magically transforms during the sailing has been grafted, and will grow on the other three ships in 2014. While news of the fleet wide rollout was revealed in December’s Castaway Club eCompass newsletter, we now have more details on the events that will take place on the ships.
- Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party | a celebration in addition to Pirate Night with games, dancing and lots of candy! Beloved Disney characters, wearing special Halloween costumes just for the occasion, will join guests for this fun-filled costume party.
- A Nightmare Before Christmas—Sing and Scream | an interactive movie experience where guests are part of the action, followed by a meet-and-greet with Jack Skellington and Sally.
- Haunted Stories of the Sea | the bravest cruisers gather under the stars to hear some true—or not so true—tales of the sea told by a mysterious sea captain storyteller.
- Creepy Cabaret | A party in the atrium featuring favorite Halloween-themed music performed live by a band of ghostly musicians.
- Halloween Isn’t Just For Kids | For adults, the nighttime entertainment district on each Disney ship becomes the ghoulish setting for a costume contest and a Villainous Takeover on the dance floor.
- Spooky Movies | To get guests into the spirit of the season, Halloween-themed movies will be shown in Buena Vista Theatre, on Funnel Vision by the family pool and in guest staterooms.
- Ghoulish Delights | Disney Cruise Line chefs have conjured some very special treats for Halloween, including chocolate cake with pumpkin filling, spider cakes and “Spooky Juice.”

Still looking for more? Check out our previous Halloween on the High Seas articles as well as a number Personal Navigators from the 2013 sailings.
We will be on the cruise with two stops at Castaway Cay! Excited to see what the Halloween on the High Seas is like!
Have they missed a cruise on the Fantasy, we are on the 1st November cruise, which appears to not be a Halloween one, but the cruises before this on the Fantasy are and the one starting on the 8th is????? Do you think this is a typo error.
The error is that I inadvertently included 11/8. Thank you for brining this to my attention.
So Excited !! BOO TO YOU !
Is there a reason why they are not offering Halloween events on the Oct 6 sailing on theWonder? I notice it’s offered on both the cruise before and after this sailing?
I inadvertently had the itinerary listed with the 10/22 date.
I guess we are on the “in between” sailings (Nov 1)…bummer we miss out on Halloween and Christmas festivities!!
These sound like so much fun!
Please say Jack and Sally will be on all four ships!
It sounds like that may indeed be the case.
Well, Scott, I certainly hope so! Yesterday, I booked October 26 on the Magic (we were on the Magic and sailed from NY in June 2012). We can’t wait to see her with all her new stuff! My 9-year-old-to-be grandson will positively freak out if Jack and Sally are aboard. He has seen their movie DOZENS (and I do mean dozens!) of times!
Anyone notice that the price of the halloween cruises keep jumping up? The Oct 23 sailing on the Dream has gone up over $600.00 since I booked it. Disney has denitely hit the mark with the themed sailings.
Disney cruise website says the dream Sept 7 are included in the Halloween party. I am sailing Sept 11. I hope that’s included
The dates listed on DCL’s site are correct. Looking back at my notes, the sail dates were expanded for both the Dream & Fantasy since the article was published.
This is all awesome, but what is done on The actual Halloween night???
This past year on the Magic it was just the special deck party and candy stations outside of Cabanas.
I don’t think there is anything planned specifically for Halloween night than what is already listed. During the four night cruises you’re getting the pirate party one night and the halloween party on the second night. Plus there are a ton of halloween related activities, trick or treating, halloween tree, etc. They have extended the full blown halloween themed cruises to all of the ships. With all of this plus all of the normal Disney Cruise activities, you will be exhausted from all of it. Our cruise also has two stops at Castaway Cay too. I am not sure they could pack much more in.
Very excited about sailing on the Wonder Oct 17 – 22. We are super excited about the Halloween festivities. From what I understand, there will be a costume party??? My family of 8 is looking forward to bringing our costumes and taking part in the party.
Melanie,
During our Halloween sailings there were costume parties up on deck. I encourage you to take a look at our Personal Navigator‘s page and look at some of the ones from last year’s Halloween sailings.
Do you stay overnight at castaway?
No.
called Disney and they say dates start Sept 21st.
I would call back. The information on DCL’s website and the press release show the early September.
Is it safe to assume that booking an October 2015 date would net us the same awesome stuff?
I think that the Halloween events will continue to evolve year after year, but I would avoid assumptions when it comes to DCL.
Im so excited since i’m booked for the Dream on Sept. 11th. What a great surprise!
I just found out our Sept 6th Cruise on the Fantasy will have this cant wait so excited….
I am thinking about the 3 night Disney Dream cruise but I am wondering about the character pictures. Are there opportunities to have pictures with the characters in Halloween costumes? The only notations that I see on the previous Navigators is the pirate costumes.
We were on the Christmas cruise and they actually have times in the atrium, or at the top of the stairs, when they bring out the characters in holiday costume attire. It’s actually a very smooth process. Chances are very high that they will have the characters in their Halloween outfits for autographs and pictures.
Is there trick or treating on the Halloween cruises?
To some extent yes. There are places to pick up candy.
Its Feb 2015.. How all those 2014 Halloween DCL went? advices? anybody?
The last time I asked DCL, I was told “we do not have anything to share at this time.” This leads me to believe they are waiting to announce the dates as a way to boost bookings.
