Disney Cruise Line continues to work through the conditional sail order framework issued by the CDC. Today, Disney addressed the flying elephant in the room, cancelling and modifying select sailings over 7-nights with a US embarkation/debarkation port. The CDC’s conditional sail order included a clause preventing cruise lines from offering or sailing an itinerary longer than 7-nights through October 2021.
Previously, Disney pulled their longer sailings from further booking, and today, they are cancelling the the following cruises.
- Disney Magic | Sunday May 9, 2021 – 13-Night Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise from Miami to Barcelona
- Disney Wonder | Monday June 28, 2021 – 9-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver
- Disney Fantasy | Thursday July 22, 2021 – 9-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral
Each sailing is unique. The Alaskan will be replaced by a 7-night Alaskan Cruise, and the Southern Caribbean will be split into a 6- and 3-night cruise. The Transatlantic does not have a replacement, and at this time it seems to look more and more like the Disney Magic may just stay in Europe until we get closer to the resumption of cruise operations.

Today, with this phase of cancellations of 3 cruises spanning 31 nights, Disney Cruise Line eclipsed the 1 year mark for lost nights on the Disney Wonder and the Fantasy. To date, Disney has been forced to cancel 270 sailings losing total 1432 nights across the fleet. The Disney Dream will lose 89 sailings losing 323-nights, Disney Fantasy 61 sailings losing 366-nights, Disney Magic 60 sailings losing 351-nights, and the Disney Wonder 60 sailings losing 292-nights due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Please note, the Disney Magic and Disney Dream stats have been adjusted to show just lost revenue of passenger sailings. The actual number of nights is higher due to previously scheduled dry dock periods and a repositioning cruise where there were no passenger sailings.
I set up sailings for each ship for those interested in keeping track of the fleet during the temporary shutdown. The sailings will be updated daily with “at sea” set as the default for each day until we learn otherwise.

Disney Cruise Line Extends Suspension of All Departures Through February 28, 2021 and Select Sailings Longer than 7 Nights
Our team at Disney Cruise Line remains focused on the health and well-being of our Guests and team members. We are continuing to carefully review the guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and are working toward resuming operations.
As previously shared, we continue to refine our protocols for our eventual return to service and have canceled all departures through February 28, 2021. Sailings are cancelled onboard the Disney Magic through February 25; the Disney Wonder and Disney Dream through February 26; and the Disney Fantasy through February 27.
Additionally, based on the conditional sail order provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Disney Cruise Line must cancel sailings longer than 7 nights.
Guests booked on affected sailings who have paid their reservation in full will be offered the choice of a cruise credit to be used for a future sailing or a full refund. Guests who have not paid their reservations in full will automatically receive a refund of what they have paid so far. Affected Guests and travel agents will receive an email from Disney Cruise Line outlining details and next steps.

Interesting perspective on the possibility of keeping the Magic in Europe during this time. I like it. I also wonder if Disney will offer pop-up cruises in Europe this Spring as they test-run the ramp up. (Coming from someone who was booked on the March 14 Fantasy cruise who rebooked for May 29, 2021 Magic Cruise who never thought in a million years we would be playing this game of will the boat go or not go for the rebooked cruise.)
