We just got back from our cruise, on the Fantasy, on July 4th! After reading many reviews of this room, when my husband and I were assigned GTY status, I was initially so disappointed when I found out this was our cabin...I couldn't believe our bad luck. But, we were so excited about this trip, I wasn't going to let it ruin even a minute of our fun! All that being said, this room should not have the bad reputation it has...we loved it!! The balcony was small, but the views were unbelievable! I got up early in Castaway Cay, when I heard we backed in to port...very few rooms could have enjoyed that experience! We moved our room chair out to the balcony and there was plenty of room for us to sit together and put up our feet. There was engine noise, but I enjoyed the motion of the aft room and it put me right to sleep. It was very quiet and, as others have said, close to the laundry. Also, Animator's Palate was aft and the nights we ate there, we had a short walk down the hall and stairs. As soon as we got back, writing a review was on my To-Do list. Don't be disappointed if you get this cabin or its sister 5688. If you're traveling with two, or even three, it's a wonderful room! And, for the way cheaper price for a Navigator Verandah, it's easier on your pocketbook. My parents spent considerably more money on their room and it was exactly like ours, with a slightly larger balcony. Also, my sister's family chose to do the Navigatior Verandah and were surprised to be upgraded to a regular balcony, midship, near our parents...so there is always a chance, when booking the Navigator, even on a sold out cruise, that you'll be surprised with a regular balcony room for a way cheaper price! Anyway, don't be discouraged if you get this fabulous cabin! And, our cabin steward Sam was awesome! (The only reason I gave the upkeep a 4 is because the cabin had not been stayed in for awhile, our cabin steward said, the bench cushion wasn't attached and the room initially had a bad smell...but Sam shampooed the carpets the first night we were there!) Happy Cruising!!

I had stateroom 5188 on the Disney Dream during the 5/18 - 5/22 Bahamas sailing. This stateroom is located in the aft (back) of the ship on the port (left) side. When looking at the back of the ship from the outside the stateroom is just above the left most broom on the Sorcerer Mickey and brooms scene on back of the ship. The location of the room is very close by to your muster station just one deck below. It is also super close to the lounges and restaurants on deck 4. The stateroom is close by to the laundry room (it's just steps away). One of the first things you notice about the room is that's it's door is a bit smaller than the other stateroom doors but it is still as functional as the other doors. The rest of the stateroom is standard for it's category. Now the big question what about the verandah? The verandah is smaller than the standard ones, there is no table or chairs but there is a cushioned bench that can fit two adults comfortably. In my honest opinion I think there would be room enough for one chair in addition to the bench. The next thing I want to address is room noise/vibration. You do experience some engine vibration but it's minimal at best even when the ship is at full speed. Noise from the clubs/lounges can be heard but again it's minimal and not every night. I found the clattering of the hangers in the closet more annoying than the engine and clubs combined.
