Disney Destiny will debut an all new Broadway-style stage adaptation of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hercules and today, during the Disney Destiny Showcase aboard the Disney Wish the creative team behind the production shared some behind the scenes previews and anecdotes from the audition process, early rehearsals, and some new images of the Hydra puppet.

“Disney Hercules” will be a brand-new, Broadway-style retelling of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film developed exclusively for the Disney Destiny. The show will present incredible live renditions of iconic songs like “Zero to Hero” and “I Won’t Say I’m in Love” through new musical arrangements inspired by the soulfulness of gospel music with the energy of a pop concert.
Like the film, the Muses will be the show’s storytellers, and their over-the-top personalities and transcendent vocals will shine on stage. High-fashion costume designs will showcase the opulence of the gods of Mount Olympus and contrast starkly with the more understated and humble attire worn by the humans and creatures of Earth. Award-winning puppet designer Michael Curry is bringing to life some of this tale’s most
larger-than-life characters through jaw-dropping puppetry, representing the mythological behemoths that Hercules must defeat to fulfill his hero’s journey.
Finally, Corey Bradford, who will open the show as Hercules later this year, closed out the experience performing ‘Go The Distance.’

Featuring a celebration of iconic songs like “Go the Distance,” “Zero to Hero” and “I Won’t Say I’m in Love,” this show will present incredible live renditions like you’ve never heard before through new musical arrangements inspired by the soulfulness of gospel music with the energy of a pop concert.

Award-winning puppet designer Michael Curry is bringing to life some of this tale’s most larger-than-life characters through jaw-dropping puppetry, building on the innovative designs debuted in “Disney The Tale of Moana” aboard the Disney Treasure. Embodying the ship’s theme of “heroes and villains,” our new show will use these massive puppets to represent the mythological behemoths — like the multi-headed Hydra monster — that Hercules must defeat to fulfill his hero’s journey.

Special thanks to Disney Cruise Line for inviting us out to experience the Disney Destiny Showcase event. The Disney Destiny will begin sailing from Fort Lauderdale later this year with a maiden voyage on November 20th.
