Disney Adventure Lifeboats Staged at Meyer Wismar

Today, inselvideo share a video on their YouTube channel featuring a look at of some Disney Adventure’s lifeboats staged outside the construction hall at Meyer Wismar.

In November 2022, the MEYER Group founded MEYER WISMAR to complete the cruise ship under construction at the Wismar shipyard for Disney Cruise Line. The ship will be converted into one of the first methanol-powered and thus one of the most environmentally friendly ships on the seven seas. As soon as green methanol is available, the ship will be able to sail climate-neutrally. Together with other companies of the MEYER Group, the ship will be equipped with the greenest technologies and redesigned for the Disney Group.

The 200,000+ GT Disney Adventure will be based in Singapore upon completion, allowing many more families to make unforgettable memories with beloved characters such as Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse, Disney princesses, Marvel superheroes and more.

Seems a little wild that it appears to be registered in the Bahamas but spend at least five years in Singapore.

I believe it has something to do with the fact that Disney purchased Adventure from an Asian ship company and part of the purchase deal was that Adventure has to stay in Singapore for five years. There must be some reason why Disney was allowed to register the ship in the Bahamas.

Almost all cruise ships are registered in the Bahamas, it’s a flag of convenience due to pay and conditions allowed under their laws.

It’s going to be in Singapore because the government are paying Disney. Disney is getting this ship for next to nothing and has done deals with the German government and Singapore to ensure a lot of the fit out cost isn’t a risk to Disney.
