Personal Navigator – Day 3

The last Monday of 2024 started early, well ahead of our arrival in Cozumel. Em headed off to the gym as usual. As I was walking around, I noticed something new to me in Hook’s Barbery, a Never Land map on the doors covering the not-so-secret bar.

I spent some time looking around Scat Cat Lounge which was full illuminated and photo ready. We still need to visit this lounge, but so far, it has been busy in the evenings when we’ve walked by.

I love the personal touch with a memorial paw prints on the piano.

I made a quick run through Marceline Market to get a look at the breakfast offerings. This video is not going to win any awards, but it’s just adequate enough to provide quick overview of the offerings. I find it very uncomfortable taking videos, especially when other folks are around which is my way of saying if things look bad, its because I was more focused on being quick and staying out of the way of fellow passengers.

Like I said, it is a Monday, so off to my office at sea, Skipper Society.

Over the course of the cruise, I spent a considerable amount of my mornings working in Skipper Society, so much that I can tell you the music loop started at 7:05 AM every morning. Roughly, the third song into the playlist, I decided to make some notes to create a playlist of each song played. I shared the list during the cruise, but once home, I discovered the online streaming playlists that were created using the list of songs is not exactly accurate. The track list is correct, but the are some songs that do not match the version from the ship. I will do my best once I get through the trip report to compile as close to a 1:1 playlist as possible.

Emily stopped at the Jade Cricket Café for fruit tea brewed to order after her time in the gym & brought me an Americano.

If you look close, you can spot Mushu.

Yesterday, we reserved spots on the free Imagineering the Disney Ships tour and selected today. We met our guide outside of the Jake Cricket Café with maybe about 20 or so other guests.

The ‘Imagineering the Disney Ships’ tour felt like a rebranding of the Art of the Ship/Art of the Theme Show tour, which has been available over the years across the existing fleet. Naming aside, the tour traveled around various venues on decks 3, 4, and 5 with our guide pointing out some unique details along the way – the Haunted Mansion Parlor was not included. The perplexing part was the 18 and older age restriction when it came to reserving the experience, considering we remained in public areas of the ship for the duration of the tour. This is something that our 17y daughter could’ve absolutely participated in. It could very well be opened up to include teenagers. For our tour, there wasn’t a formal check-in, and for what it’s worth, there were some well behaved younger guests tagging along and the guide did not blink an eye. If you are interested in small details and unique stories about the ship, check the app for times.

After the tour, we were checking the schedule to see what else was happening when we skipped ahead to tomorrow to see about NYE offerings. There are two events planned for tomorrow to ring in the new year, an evening celebration in the Grand Hall and a deck party with midnight fireworks.

Before going ashore, we climbed up to the pool deck for lunch. I managed to make a chicken salad of sorts from the offerings at Marceline Market because I’m forcing myself to not go to Donald’s Cantina everyday (but I did grab some pizza to share).

The fall off in quality of the Mac & Cheese at Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue is disappointing as compared to the initial offering on the Disney Wish. Not only does it look bad, it was a 3-0 decision that it was inedible. Now the sweet potato fries are still awesome when they are fresh.

I exchanged my beer mug for a DCL Beer Mug Token, which currently on the Disney Treasure is themed for a nautical adventure with a compass graphic on one side and a treasure map with usage details on the reverse.

Up on the pool deck, you will receive the traditional looking plastic beer mug compared to the glass version with the Treasure logo indoors for obvious safety reasons.

The morning rush of guests going ashore subsided by now, so it was smooth sailing to the deck 1 gangway and out onto the pier for our closest look yet at the exterior of the Disney Treasure.

We headed down the Punta Langosta pier into the shopping area, Plaza Punta Langosta. On the second floor there is an observation deck where you can get a great view of the ships berthed.

Today, was a chill day causally walking around. This time of year, the water temp is too chilly for us, even last March during our spring break cruise the water was too cool to enjoy during our time at El Cozumeleño Beach Resort. Obviously, we are wired differently with a different temperature threshold. This turned out to be a good thing as we normally have something booked for Cozumel. This was the first time we went ashore and just walked around.

Cozumel MEGA Soriana Store

Ok, technically, there was an agenda. A trip to the MEGA Soriana a grocery story that you can see from the ship. Last night, one of Emily’s shoes broke, so we needed some Shoe Goo, and, we were also in search of puzzles. The MEGA had shoe glue, puzzles and so much more. It was a fantastic experience.

I really wanted to see what would happen if I brought back this little Ghost Ship “can” of beer. If your are in search of provisions in Cozumel, the have a decent selection of wine and beer.

The MEGA is great. You can buy food, household appliances including ovens, electronics, TVs, clothes, games, food, tools and so much more and by that I mean a dirt bike! There is also pharmacy, where it looked like you could get prescriptions, as well as any other medications you may need. Isabelle found some Peanuts sweatpants, Emily found shorts, and we also grabbed a cheap pair of plug-in headphones for Emily to use on the Peloton bikes in the gym. Anyway, this is the place to go if you need anything. I am not exaggerating, I can see this becoming a regular stop from here on out when visiting Cozumel.

Just like the cinemas on the Disney Treasure, the movie theatre at Plaza Punta Langosta was showing Moana 2 and Mufasa. Click here for showtimes if you are interested in seeing a film in Spanish while in Cozumel.

One of the places we are planning to visit on our next stop is the Cozumel Cat Cafe operated by the Humane Society of Cozumel, which has a donation box on the Punta Langosta pier. The cafe is about a 3 mile walk from Punta Langosta Pier, but only a mile from the International Cruise Terminal, which is where we are docking at in a few months during our spring break cruise.

We were heading back to the ship, when I decide to make everyone stop so we could make a donation and I could take these photos; the red box in photo on the right is the donation box for the Cozumel Cat Cafe so you know where you can donate the next time you are there.

Back onboard, it was time to make our maiden voyage to Fairytale Fresh Laundry. To date, we only used the laundry room on the Wish for ironing. This was our first time washing clothes on a Wish Class ship.

The machines were easy to use, and I am so glad DCL no longer requires the purchase of tokens and simply allows guests to buy a cycle at the machine. The washers were efficient and were spot on with the estimated time shown on the display. The dryers were a different story. The washers do an amazing job at extracting water following the rinse cycle that the drying is quick. We had laundry in two washers, and then were able to get both loads into one dryer. Unfortunately, the machines show a percentage on the screen, not a time remaining. One load was dry in just under 15 minutes and this included some sweatshirts and warmer apparel.

I briefly stepped into the Haunted Mansion Parlor to see if there were any seats open. While it was not standing room only crowded, there were no open seats. While I was in there, I did take some pictures of the draft beer tap handles.

Back in the stateroom it was time to put the shoe glue we picked up at the MEGA to the test. We MacGyver-ed our way to victory using a camera strap and wash cloth to apply constant pressure while the glue cured.

As I was heading back to join the family down at ‘our’ booth in Skipper Society, I ran into Voyager Minnie in the Grand Hall. During our voyage, Voyager Minnie was out most of the time on the starboard side of deck 4 overlooking the Grand Hall. Just look for ‘Minnie’ times in the Navigator app or on the paper schedule that you can pick up at Guest Services. Just note, as it has always been, the character schedule does not list the costumes for the meet and greets. However, you can expect to see the characters themed to the evening dinner attire on nights such as Formal Night and Pirate Night.

Due to the amount of time we are in one of the corner booths, we are already making friends with the servers at Skipper Society and they acquired some ingredients from HeiHei Café to make the Beet Root Latte, which was served with Moana printed on top in the Skipper Society china which is from the Sultan’s Garden Collection from Willam Edwards if you are interested in purchasing (not an affiliate link – simply sharing the source).

We spent the balance of the afternoon at Skipper Society working on our first puzzle.

Our dinner rotation took us to Worlds of Marvel, where we were served the standard menu which was carried over from the Disney Wish along with the first night show, Quantum Encounter.

Treasure Worlds Of Marvel Spider Man

Music trivia was offered in Triton Lounge, which is perfect as it does not impact the guests watching sports down the hall in Periscope, but does require you to go elsewhere for libations. Trivia is a big draw, and it was a full house.

We made our way into Mickey’s Mainsail, which was finally not busting at the seems. I will eventually get to posting a merchandise overview, but for now, I am going to focus on the coolest item which is NOT for sale. Looks like I found myself a project to work on! Only my version will be based on the RUSTmore version.

The evening was coming to a close as we returned to our stateroom and finished the puzzle which we picked because it reminded us of Sarabi.

Treasure Stateroom Puzzle Completed

Just before going to bed, I noticed a message in the Navigator App. It was an overview of the Grand Cayman alcohol law that limits onboard sales of alcohol while in Cayman waters. Keep this in mind if you are looking to consume adult beverages onboard in lieu of tendering ashore in Grand Cayman.
