At 8:00 PM ET tonight, Disney Parks Blog will go live on YouTube with a livestream of the Disney Treasure Christening Ceremony from New York City. According to Disney, the event will be full of one-of-a-kind moments, including a few special appearances and a closer look at the Disney Treasure.
Below you can find the Disney Treasure live stream video from the Disney Parks Blog YouTube channel.
Be sure to check back tomorrow as more treasures will be shared.
Is that it?
Welp, that was underwhelming! I was expecting “an evening long” event, or at least longer than 15 minutes. I mean, it was fun and cool and cute! But I wanted so much more. Curious to see if drone shows will replace and/or augment fireworks shows or if that was just a one time thing.
I really hope they don’t replace fireworks, especially for events on DCL that are meant to have them (i.e. Pirate Night and Marvel Night). I don’t mind them supplementing, but to replace fireworks would be disappointing. I was SO underwhelmed by the Wish’s christening (and listening to Chapek drone on and on) and thought that this was the perfect length. I didn’t catch the livestream, but I watched the video via Disney Parks Blog and it ended up being only about 10 minutes or so.
They were unable to do the planned fireworks because New York and New Jersey are in a drought and under burn bans as wildfires are being fought on both sides of the Hudson. Setting off another one just to christen a ship would NOT have been a good look for Disney.
That said, I thought the drone show was amazing. IDK how much else was planned, but there is a reason there were no fireworks.
The plan was to include fireworks during the event, but due to a burn ban they were not permitted in New York.
