Today, Disney Cruise Line made the decision to cancel the October 11, 2024 Disney Wish sailing from Port Canaveral due to the expected impacts of Hurricane Milton at Port Canaveral.
We have been closely monitoring Hurricane Milton and its projected path, which is expected to move through Central Florida later this week. Due to the weather conditions most recently forecasted for Port Canaveral and Central Florida and the impact that it might have on port operations, we have made the difficult decision to cancel your sailing.
Guests booked on the cancelled sailing will automatically receive a refund back to the original form of payment. Disney Cruise Line is extending each Guest a 20% future cruise discount on their voyage fare.
As of this morning, the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) has set Port Condition “YANKEE” for Port Canaveral: Sustained gale force winds are predicted within 24 hours. Port Canaveral is open and conducting limited Port operations and preparing for the closure of waterside and vessel shoreside Port operations.
You can see the most up to date information at the port’s page here. When the storm moves out, the US Coast Guard will survey Port Canaveral and will determine when it is safe to reopen the waterway for ship transit.
Yesterday, the Disney Magic’s October 7th Five-night Bahamian cruise from Fort Lauderdale was modified with change in the port order, which was again changed today when conditions were unsafe to dock at Castaway Cay.
I was supposed to be on this cruise.FYI for readers, many of us are surprised that some items purchased directly with Disney may not be refunded, primarily the vacation protection plan.
Hi Jacob, The insurance is never refunded that’s why we don’t purchase till final payment is due. Sorry you didn’t get to cruise, but much better safe than sorry. Hope you get to cruise soon.
