We recently spent the weekend at the Space Coast enjoying the Cocoa Beach Air show from Jetty Park Beach while Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy were anchored at the Cape Canaveral Anchorage. In a strange way, spending the day at the beach is an opportunity to escape with the sense you are at a port of call where you tender ashore while the ship is anchored. Sit back and imagine you are on a beach escape port adventure looking out over the cruise ships at anchor. Now, imagine you are at Maho Beach with airplanes landing right over your head. Ok, this is all a stretch, but we are now past the 1 year shutdown of the cruise industry so it is time to get creative.
The video below is a bit of the April 17th U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds performance at the Cocoa Beach Air show from our perspective just a few miles north at Jetty Park.
It is worth noting, Port Canaveral made it much easier to get into Jetty Park. Now, you can pre-purchase Jetty Park admission online and present the QR code at the gate. For a day pass, you must select a specific date as they are using this to manage the number of cars on property. We have been using this method now for the better part of a year and well, it so simple!
Those unmasked crowds worry me. I understand not wearing a mask while in the water. But, I didn’t see one person wearing a mask while sitting on the beach.
You are outside. The chances of catching COVID outside on a windy beach is non-existent unless the person is in your face breathing on you for several minutes.
