Castaway Cay Named Best Cruise Line Private Island in Cruise Critics Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards for 3rd Consecutive Year

Cruise Critic announced the winners of its third annual Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards, naming the world’s most popular cruise destinations, based entirely on consumer ratings submitted with reviews on Cruise Critic. The awards name the top cruise destinations across 18 regions worldwide. Disney’s Castaway Cay in the Bahamas was recognized as the Top-Rated Cruise Line Private Island for the third consecutive year.

Castaway Cay has held strong in this category in the annual Cruise Critic’s Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards which is now in its third year. According to Cruise Critic, Castaway Cay ranked as the top overall island in the Caribbean, across all three regions (Eastern, Western and Southern). A number of the top-rated ports such as King’s Wharf and Quebec City are new ports of call for Disney Cruise Line this fall.

New in 2018, the awards highlighted the best cruise lines to visit each region, but even with Castaway Cay ranking as the top overall island in the Caribbean, Disney Cruise Line was not selected as a line in any of the regions.

The Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards are selected based on thousands of first-hand reviews posted to the Cruise Critic website this year. Cruise Critic offers one of the largest online cruise communities with more than 150,000 cruise reviews. Cruisers frequently praised the island’s beautiful beaches, endless activities for kids and adults alike and delicious food offerings.

Top-Rated Cruise Line Private Island: Disney Cruise Line’s Castaway Cay

“Our data regularly shows that whether you’re a first-time cruiser or you’ve sailed dozens of times, destination is a top consideration when shopping for a cruise,” explains Colleen McDaniel, Senior Executive Editor of Cruise Critic. “While tropical destinations will always be popular among cruisers, what’s really exciting to see is the rise in esteem of destinations more known for their immersive and experiential offerings – places like Havana, Edinburgh and Arles.

“By awarding top destinations and now the best lines that visit them, we’re even better able to connect travelers with standout experiences available in the incredible places they’re looking to explore.”

Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards 2018 are based on the ratings submitted by Cruise Critic members in published reviews; awards are based on port and cruise reviews from June 1, 2017 through May 31, 2018. Ports and cruise lines must have a minimum number of member reviews and ratings in a particular category in order to be included in that category’s winner list. For cruise line size, large ship cruise lines have an average of 1200+ passengers (double occupancy) and small ship cruise lines have an average of 1,199 or fewer passengers (double occupancy).

We love Castaway Cay! We did a B2B Double Dip & still couldn’t get enough. We would love it if the ship went to CC and docked overnight, that is a itinerary we would jump on in a hot minute. Well deserved recognition 🙂
