There is so much to do on a Disney Cruise and the various ports of call, that television and on-demand offerings may be the last thing on your mind, but if you are looking for something to watch there is a treasure trove of content available. Well, at least on the Dream class ships as the stateroom entertainment offerings vary drastically by ship class. The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have interactive on demand programing while the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder just have old school tv with special channels looping through various programing and movies. All the ships include a selection of films in Spanish along with content from Disney Junior Latin, Disney Channel Latin and Disney XD Latin.
On-Demand Selections
DCL’s on-demand programing is exclusive to the Dream & Fantasy with titles grouped into categories. Hollywood features include newish releases that are not “Disney” movies. The other movie titles are what you’d expect to see on a Disney ship within the following categories Live Action, DisneyNature, Animation, Marvel, Pixar and Disney Channel Original Movies. Additionally, there are Disney Shorts such as Frozen Fever, documentaries from ESPN and short clips from Good Morning America. There does seem to be one category missing… Lucasfilm, although it could be an oversight or a right issue although Lucas retains digital distribution rights to the Star Wars films (page 13). Regardless, neither the Star Wars or Indiana Jones films are available on demand. I really only thought about this omission while on the Fantasy after the realization they had the Star Wars Day at Sea cruises earlier in the year and all be expanding the offering in 2017. Although, during those cruises the Saga was screened in the theatre.

Stateroom TV Channel Guide
Below are channel lists from the Disney Fantasy (June 2016) and Disney Wonder (May 2016). For the sake of keeping things simple, I am going to stick with channel guides based on ship class. There could very well be differences between the Magic & Wonder and Dream & Fantasy. Depending on the ships location some of the TV stations may not be available either because of poor satellite reception or they do not have the rights to show the channel. That’s right, we’ve been in ports where Disney owned ESPN is not available due to broadcast rights. Additionally, you may be able to request other stations in the bars as they have access to additional channels not available in the stateroom. This is a common occurrence during big sporting events like the Olympics, Super Bowl, MLB World Series, NBA Playoffs, NCAA March Madness and World Cup to name a few for SEO purposes!

It is important to remember that the program schedules and title selection can and will change without notice. This post represents a snapshot in time based on stateroom tv information from the Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy from May/August and June 2016 respectively. Additionally, the television channel availability and signal reception is not always guaranteed due to the weather.
We really enjoy the on-demand option on the Dream and Fantasy. Just wish they could update the Magic and Wonder with the same system.
If they didn’t do it during the Magic’s re-imagination, I doubt they will do it on the Wonder this fall. It would be nice if I was wrong, but I thought I remember hearing why they didn’t back in 2013. I know they didn’t put in magical portholes because of space and having to add more wiring, or at least that is what was stated.
I’m sure they won’t do the Wonder, wouldn’t make since to do one and not the other. Excited to see the re-imagination in December. Thanks for all you do for us DCL lovers!!
We just left the Dream and were disappointed to see that the only on demand cartoons were the new Japanese Manga type Mickey cartoons. Our boys always enjoyed the classic Mickey,Donald, Goofy ones from the 40s and 50s in past cruises. These new ones are very strange.
Jenny, we too miss the “classic” Disney cartoons. The new ones have their place, but personally, not at the cost of the true classics.
I really miss the availability of ABC Family (now Freeform) shows. Sometime last year, they took the loop channel off the classic ships. And now I see that it’s not in your on-demand list for Dream/Fantasy. 🙁 I’ve enjoyed catching some new-to-me shows and even ended up buying seasons on iTunes to watch the rest of the episodes. It would be nice to have the ABC shows back in loop/on-demand as well to have some more options, particularly on the longer sailings. I don’t cruise to watch tv, but I enjoy having the tv on when I wind down at night or get going in the morning.
I’m actually disappointed they removed “Walt: The Man Behind the Myth” it seems odd that Disney would remove the only documentary they had in their line up about the man that started it all. Here’s hoping they atleast replace it with last year’s PBS special on Walt.
Where is the ABC feed from? I’ve been on Carnival cruises where the network feeds came out of Miami and those came in handy when it came to planning for the weather when we got back

DCL used to print up a list of movies being looped on tv and the channels and start times. On the wonder April 2017 there was no tv channel guide to the movies. Guest services said they do not have a typed one or know how to get that info. On the TV we could not see the name or description of the movie playing or find the start times. The menu and info buttons on the remote did nothing to help. So we would see “some” movie playing -not knowing the name, or when to catch the beginning. Only if we happened to check a tv channel after a movie ended and before its next start time did the screen show the movie’s info and start times. Does anyone know if this info is somwhere? Seems like a poor system! Thanks!
Nancy, this is the way it is on the classic ships. Unless you can get someone from guest services to provide a list of stateroom movies you are on your own trying to figure it out.
