Personal Navigator – Day 4

Day 4 Disney Magic Barbados 20141014

On Tuesday, we arrived in Barbados on a beautifully sunny day. Our port adventure was not scheduled to meet until almost the noon hour so we decided to just take it easy. This started with breakfast on the aft deck of Cabanas which provided a view of Barbados’ port. The port itself is more industrial and requires you to walk a little bit to hail a taxi if you are not booked on a DCL excursion.

Since the previous day our DCL excursion in Grenada was cancelled, we were a bit low on cash. A little known secret is that you can write a check for up to $200 to Disney Cruise Line at Guest Services, and they will cash it acting like an ATM. I stopped down to Guest Services to get this done, and we were ready to go.

Room Service All Hands On Deck Cheese Platter

We ordered the All Hands on Deck Cheese Plate and crackers from room service for a small snack before heading to the Promenade Lounge for our excursion. Just a note – we asked, and they did not have Mickey Rice Krispie Treats from room service.

We booked the Turtle Shipwreck & Snorkel Adventure, which required a brief bus ride (like 5 minutes or so) to a neighboring harbor were we boarded a powerboat.

The first stop was our swim with the sea turtles. I believe there were three adult turtles as well as one juvenile. You can tell these turtles are a regular stop for tours as the guides had a bag of food to entice the turtle to swim around the group of snorkelers.

Our next stop was an area off the beach with multiple shipwrecks. This was the highlight of the excursion, but even before we saw each wreck it was time to move along to our beach time. I would have loved to trade the 40 minutes of beach time for more time snorkeling the shipwrecks.

On our way back from the beach, the guys running the tour allowed Isabelle to take the helm of the powerboat.

Although the skies were looking ominous from the beach, the weather was still great at the port.
As we normally do on Palo night, we ordered room service for Isabelle before checking into the Oceaneer Lab for the evening. We opted not to go with the wine pairing at Palo because our tour guides were very generous with the beverages while we were at the beach.

We were a little tired from our afternoon snorkeling and were fast asleep well before the Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party and fireworks.

Thank you for letting me ride along too. Your pictures and tips are great. Sounds like you all are having an awesome time. Looks like Isabelle was doing a grand job at the helm. Love this Itinerary.

I actually stumbled on to your trip log when I was searching for info about how/if the hurricane had affected this cruise as my son and daughter-n-law are on this same cruise celebrating their 5 year anniversary. Your log has reaffirmed that as always, Disney has managed everything with little disrupt.

Hope the rest of your cruise is wonderful!
