New Magical Itineraries and Wonderful Clarification on the Horizon for Late 2014

There are some new itineraries in the works for the [Disney_Magic] for the last few months of 2014. Please keep in mind that these itineraries are not confirmed by Disney Cruise Line. When the Disney Magic finishes her 7-Night Southern Caribbean sailings she will sail on a 3-Night repositioning cruise to Port Canaveral with a stop at Castaway Cay.

With the repositioning to Port Canaveral and a 5-Night sailing to put her on Sunday departures the Disney Magic will begin sailing to the Caribbean. She will start with two Eastern Caribbean sailings with stops in St Maarten, St Thomas, and Castaway Cay.

Disney Wonder Miami Sailings

Now to clear up the itineraries for the [Disney_Wonder] following last week’s shakeup. Following her October 6, 2014 4-Night Bahaman sailing (which may be scuttled for dry dock)the she will reposition to PortMiami. This one day repositioning cruise will sail without passengers from Port Canaveral to Miami on October 10, 2014. The Disney Wonder appears on the Grand Cayman port calendar on Monday October 13th as well as Sunday October 19th. It was confirmed last week that the Disney Wonder will begin sailing from Miami on Saturday October 11, 2014 and eventually take over the previous Disney Magic sailings. The Disney Magic was scheduled on a 2-Night cruise from Miami on October 20th then scheduled to sailing a normal rotating schedule on October 22nd. In order for the Disney Wonder to fill the void left by the Disney Magic she will sail on a 6-Night Western Caribbean with stops at Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Castaway Cay followed by a 5-Night Western sailing with stops at Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

These two sailings will enable the Disney Wonder to fall into the previously scheduled Disney Magic sailings.

Panama Canal Expansion Project Delay and the Ripple Effect

Disney Cruise Line has not yet announced any dry dock plans for the Disney Wonder. Although, she should technically dry dock before September 2014, a recent comment indicated the Wonder would not be reimagined in 2014. The duck tail extension would increase the Disney Wonder’s length over the limits of the the current Panama Canal locks. As of January, the Panama Canal expansion project was behind schedule with completion pushed back by 6 months according to a Bloomberg.com article. If the Disney Wonder would be reimagined like here sister ship, she would not be able to sail to Alaska in 2015. If indeed the Disney Wonder reimagination is pushed this would be a good indication that the Disney Wonder would return to Alaska in 2015.

The evidence is mounting that the Disney Wonder will simply undergo her required dry dock during the two week period prior to the first Miami sailing on October 11, 2014. This scenario would mean the the Port Canaveral sailings following the Panama Canal cruise would be canceled.

It appears that these itineraries aboard the reimagined Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder will go on sale next Tuesday, June 18, 2013.
