Tropical Storm Ernesto Building Steam

Tropical Storm Ernesto is building steam and looking more and more like it will be a Category 1 hurricane by early next week, as it arrives in the vicinity of Jamaica. Ernesto will arrive in the Eastern Caribbean just in time to mess with the [Disney_Fantasy]’s 7-Night Western Caribbean cruise. Ernesto is continuing to move West in to the warm Caribbean waters at 21 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour.

It is looking more and more like the 8/4/2012 7-Night Western will end up being changed to an Eastern itinerary.  So far there has not been an official announcement from Disney Cruise Line.

July was a quiet month in terms of tropical systems.  It looks like August is starting out with a possible 1 – 2 punch.  Just as Ernesto began to intensify, a new area of interest has developed off the west coast of Africa.  This system has a 30% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.  The early forecast models show this staying in the Atlantic Ocean, but this could change at anytime.
