Today, the Walt Disney Company held their annual shareholders meeting in Portland, Oregon. The event started with glowing praise for the success of Disney Animation’s Frozen and touched on various highlights from the past year, as well as a look forward. The 2014 Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards have been released with Disney Cruise Line earning 13 first-place awards including a Best Ship for the Disney Fantasy for the second consecutive year. The Disney Fantasy earned an impressive 9 first-place awards for Disney Cruise Line. The Disney Wonder followed up with 3 first-place awards including Best Overall in the Mid-size ship category. The Disney Dream earned one first-place award with the Best Cruises to the Bahamas. The Walt Disney Company reported their earnings today for the first quarter (Q1) of 2014 which ended on December 28, 2013. According to Bob Iger, The Walt Disney Company “had an incredibly strong first quarter, delivering a 32% increase in adjusted earnings per share and double-digit increases in operating income in all business segments.” Iger attributed these impressive results to the strength of Disney’s “unprecedented portfolio of brands, a constant focus on creativity and innovation, and the continued success of our long-term strategy.”
